Scary. Considering this hotel came highly recommended to me, I was majorly disappointed when I arrived. The entire hotel screams "shabby" and not "shabby chic". It seemed like a tenament. The halls had worn out carpeting and wallpaper that was peeling. Halls and elevators smelled heavily from insectacide. The room was tiny and again shabby. The hardwood floors while shiny and well scrubbed just seem right and somehow made it seem dirty. The room was quite small with barely enough room for one person let alone two. The bathroom, however was nice but too bad the rest of the room wasn't as nice. For thirty dollars more, I found a room for the rest of my stay at a much nicer, larger and safer location. The lovely view of the brick wall I had also didn't help matters I only hope they were or are in the process of refurbishing.

An economical hotel that was once a warehouse for coffee.. The Scene
This hotel is just three blocks from the tourist-crammed French Quarter and within shouting distance of the always-booked Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Guests can enjoy the relatively peaceful surroundings of three 19th-century buildings converted into one. The Warehouse District is a lovely area for strolling--known for its art galleries, unique shops and the Crescent City Farmers Market on Saturday mornings.

The Details
With their exposed brick, hardwood floors and wrought-iron four-poster beds, the 165 rooms showcase the meld of traditional and modern that is quintessential New Orleans style. Variously sized suites and pet-friendly rooms are available. Business-minded groups may wish to book the private banquet room, which comes with audio and visual equipment upon request. The house restaurant, Protocol, serves respectable Cajun and Creole food, though discriminating diners will do well to explore the neighborhood for its more established and admirable restaurants.
