Awesome!
by soadnirvana
After seeing Chef Paul sitting in the French Quarter on his electric scooter, I decided to finally try his restaurant. I showed up last night and he was there, as was his head chef. We were told there would be a 45 minute wait and to make reservations for the next night (which was tonight). Tonight we showed up and were seated promptly. I don't think anyone without reservations would be treated as well as those with are, so its vital to have reservations. Don't just show up thinking you'll get a seat.. because it doesn't happen. I had the flounder off the 3 for 30 menu. It included a delicious chicken noodle soup, my entree, bread pudding, and a glass of wine (of which I was given a large selection to choose from). My flounder was good and our waitress was helpful, hospitable, and told me that indeed they used Magic seasonings in the dishes. I didn't think too highly of the bread pudding. Terjugue's and Willie Mae's Restaurant has much better bread pudding. The basket of assorted breads were great, albeit I was not fond of the molasses mini muffin. I also enjoyed the trio of singers who sang a song in Double Jeopardy that serenaded us at our table. We sat in the back room, which was cooler than the other. I'd say K Paul's is the absolute best gourmet restaurant in New Orleans.
- Pros: Everything
place to avoid

On April the 4th 2009, I and my family went into K-Paul's restaurant only because it did not have a line to wait in. We walked and took in the atmosphere and automatically set our standards high for service/food but truly was disappointed because while standing waiting to be seated the bartender was not helpful at all in telling us that we were to order up front, deli styled, so while ordering we were complaining and nippy with each other because were were starving but weren't absolutely mean to the bartender though she wasn't helpful in explaining to my aunt or my grandmother what was in certain dishes, my aunt and grandma were visiting from Scotland and were unfamiliar with some of the food. Once we received our food we weren't happy to be served on foam plates and airplane cutlery, it was ridiculous how much it cost for a CAN of coke , 2 dollars. Also my mother pointed out that the chef or staff weren't wearing any gloves the chef then proceeded to talk about my mother behind her back, saying calling her mean names. As for the food my aunt's egg plant lasagna was laying in a pool a grease, my cousin's potato salad was a glop of pureed eggs and potato, my dad's red beans and rice was tasteless, my Cole slaw wasn't even Cole slaw it was a salad. When we complained to the manager he was very rude and wouldn't hear us out he told us we consumed the food so we weren't entitled to a refund which we weren't even asking for. He said we were rude to the staff, frustrating the bartender to the point of walking off the floor. Not once acknowledged our complaints and walking away but he was going to argue with us. My aunt finally gave in to telling him that we are related to Gordon Ramsey, we don't flaunt it around or anything because it is a shameful thing just to get good service or to be listened to it wasn't until after she let him know that we are related to Gordon Ramsey that he listened to my aunt's complaints of the food and my aunt actually told him how to do lasagna. So just to let you know no one in my family is ever going back to K-Paul's and I will tell people of my bad experience because that is the type of costumer I am when I have really bad experience or really good experience I let people know I spread the word around.
- Pros: nice looking
- Cons: food, service, price
Not what we anticipated
by sneisen
After leaving Houston to escape Hurricane Ike, we were excited to treat ourselves to Paul Prudhomme's cuisine. I had a delicious chicken dish which was lightly breaded and fried, served with wonderful jambalaya. The whole meal was very good. My wife, who grew up in La. had the blackened baby drum. Her initial comment to the server was, "We used to throw drum back when we went fishing". He told her that she would enjoy the fish-it was just like red fish. So she decided to try it. She found it way too salty, from the blackening seasoning. She sent it back, asking to just have it broiled with lemon butter and no seasoning. It came back with too much salt again! She didn't eat the fish, but did like the mashed potatoes. She also liked the bread pudding.
- Pros: Our server was very patient with our requests
- Cons: Food was inconsistent
Authentic delicious upscale creole cuisine - - LOVE IT!!

Native New Orleanian: Best creole cooking in town. Delicious basket of various homemade bread served immediately. Great place to celebrate anything!! If the restaurant is made aware of you celebrating something, a three piece brass band comes to your table to play a couple of songs just for you!!
- Pros: EVERYTHING! Great food, friendly service (like you're at a friend's home), etc., etc., etc.
- Cons: NOTHING!
Native New Orleanian from a restaurant family loves this place!!!!!

My last name is Brocato...a well known name in New Orleans.
My father was from Sicily and his brother, Diamond Jim Moran, was the infamous owner of La Louisiane.
My relatives make Italian Ice Cream.
I grew up knowing and loving great food and I promise you that you will not have a better dining experience in New Orleans!!!
I've had dinner here numerous times but recently went to an Abita Beer Dinner here and it was AMAZING!!!!! $65 per person covered about 5 courses each at least 8 -10 beers and this included tax and tip. Occasionally I have been to wine dinners here and it's the same awesome experience for around $85 per person.
However it's always worth every penny....really the bread alone would make me happy. Thanks K Paul for a wonderful and predictable experience time and again!!!!!
We are going back tonight for a special occasion and I haven't eaten all day to prepare myself.
- Pros: amazing food....all of the different warm breads
- Cons: NONE
We Go Here Every Time!

K-Paul?s. Saturday night for Mom?s birthday dinner at K-Paul?s. As usual, service and food were top notch. We go here every time we come down.
Fun experience, delicious food

This place is quite lively and was perfect for a fun night out. I was with a rather large group and the consensus was that the blackened Louisiana drum fish was the best item we ordered....simply divine! I had the shrimp etouffee which was very good, but after a week of fine dining in the city it's got some stiff competition. The turtle soup was great, as was the jambalaya. Definitely a good place to go in the city, with sizable portions, and it was perfect for our large group.
Capture's the FoodSoul of the BIG EASY

A three piece Cajun band plays away at the front door. The waitstaff is knowledgable and helpful. If you are one to sip a cocktail, try the Orange Cosmo. We loved the appetizer of Shrimp (Tomato) Remoulade over fried green tomatoes, and the Blackened Drum Fish entree. Soft Shell Crabs found a spot on the menu (they are in season-June) and a spot in my heart. There are no "specials" because the menu changes nightly. At one point in the evening the band outside wandered into the restaurant, and were joined by the kitchen (on pots pans and washboards) in a couple of Zydeco classics. Great fun, great food, great night....make a reservation, I didn't see an empty table.
- Pros: Made me feel like I was in New Orleans for a Party
- Cons: Not a one
Not happy with K-Paul
by izharlow
April 16, 2007, my wife and I had 8:30 reservations, well the host and hostest were very friendly and sat us very quickly. No complaints there, our server is a different story, very slow to come to the table and offer know interaction with us at all. I lived in the French Quarter for six years and knew of K-Pauls rep for excellent service so coming back after 10 years away this was a surprise. It is a bunch of kids running the place and they do not seem like they like what they our doing. Now, on to the food, I love cajun and creole food I grew up with it. This was over cooked and over sauced and could not tell what the favor was suppose to be. My beef tips were over cooked and drowning in sauce, the wife's we could not tell what it was looked more like soup, was suppose to be shrimp etoeffe. K-Paul please come back.
Sorry for the bad review, just would like you to get back to your standards.
- Pros: good biscuits, wine
- Cons: service
Chef Prudhomme Weathers Hurricane Katrina! Big Easy Stops Here! Fabulous!
by jaymaygm
I don't know why I'm just now getting around to writing this review on K-Paul's, since it was last summer, 2006, when I had the ultimate Big Easy dinner. Hurricane Katrina, did not destroy one of the best restaurants in The Quarter, so please come back and give them your support. I had dinner reservations for two, but my dining partner, was stuck in some alley bar, with an alley babe. Well that wasn't going to stop me. I've been a fan of Chef Paul for years, all his cookbooks, spices, and television shows down pat. That sweet hostess, led me to my table, and the feast began. It was Turtle Soup, tastes similiar to chicken, with chunks of turtle meat, topped with fresh spinach and chopped hard boiled egg. It was so rich, I just took my sweet time, and enjoyed. I had already done the seafood thing, several times around the quarter, so for something different, it was the Pork Chop. Not just any pork chop, mind you. This was a Blackened Stuffed Pork Chop, stuffed with Ricotta, Asiago, and Mozzerella cheeses. A big double cut one. This was pure heaven, and I'm glad I didn't have to share the moment with anyone. Desert--Well I had already had bread pudding several times, so it was the Sweet Potato Pecan Pie. I'm from Georgia, and I've never eaten Pecan Pie like this. Service was terrific, and the big guy himself stopped by the table, and it was more than a foodie's perfect meal!
- Pros: Legenday Cajun/Creole Chef's Masterpiece's! Awsome!
- Cons: None! Are You Kidding!
