Best Burrito in the City
by lisa2waters
Everything I have eaten here has been delicious: the beans and rice dip appetizer, the shrimp tacos, cheese enchiladas. But my absolute favorite is the Jerk-Chicken burrito. I used to go there every week for lunch when I worked downtown. I go out of my way to eat there now. Just love it. Don't roll up at seven at night on a Friday though, the place will be packed!
- Pros: Cheap, Amazing food, funky Magazine Street feel, margaritas are pretty good too
- Cons: Can get REALLY crowded some nights
Best burritos - and huge too
by emilynf1
This place is perfect for hanging out and trying your luck with one of their giant burritos. I've never been with a person who could finish a whole one in one sitting. If you live nearby, they're really good for takeout
- Pros: Fresh and cheap burritos

There is no such thing as customer service in this place- from the waitstaff to the management. When dining out I at least expect is a casual hello, my drink within 5 minutes, a correct entree order within a reasonable amount of time and a check when I'm done. This is entirely too much to ask for from a server at Juans and forget about speaking to management about rude service and problems with your bill because their attitudes are just as ugly. You can get better service and QUALITY food at several other mexican joints throughout the city.
- Pros: Cheap food
- Cons: Service, Management, Poor Quality
I get a craving about twice a week but could eat there every day

I wouldn't call Juan's Mexican but it really isn't Tex-Mex... All I know is there is always room for Juan's and you are so going to need it. Quality is good, service is excellent, taste is awesome, and quantities are huge. Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Especially good for the "Day After" with a huge hangover or even a first date dinner.
Eh. Not great/Not too bad

this place is ok. it was not outstanding, but it also wasn't awful. i had the shrimp tacos. the shrimp was a little too fishy. the beans/rice are put into the taco - which is interesting - but makes for quite a mess. none of the salsas had any bite which was very disappointing. it's not at all "mexican" food. but it was ok for what it was and it was a pretty good value.
- Pros: food is ok (as long as you're not looking for mexican food)
- Cons: nothing is spicy.
Lived off it after Katrina
by adnola
They re-opened on Magazine in October and were one of the few places to eat that soon after Katrina and it couldn't have been better! I've had just about everything on the menu now and it's all good, good, good! My fav are the mission style burritos, but be sure to peel the foil as you eat, if you take it off completely you'll need a fork and a napkin! Go there, eat well and take home the leftovers! It's cheap and tasty, perfect combo!
Inexpensive boffo burritos made to order in punk den.

The Scene
Juan's thrives on Magazine Street's funkiest block, a mishmash of retro clothiers, boutiques, spas and antique parlors. The tattooed-attitude crowd working at Juan's serves suits to families to gutter punks with equal parts smile and snarl. The music is loud and heavy, the artwork suitably oddball.
The Food
Juan's does things with burritos you wouldn't believe. Overstuffing tortillas with Southwest specialties, fresh veggies and spicy peppers is nothing new, but these wraps rise above. Start with chips and some of the city's best salsa. Build your own burrito in the traditional or super style. Better yet, try a specialty burrito, like jerk chicken, super green or the namesake flying burrito--a gargantuan wrap of steak, chicken, shrimp and fixings. Two sauces accompany everything; both are excellent. Once you've sampled all the wraps, Juan's salads, quesadillas and enchiladas carry on the Mexican cause.
