"BAM!". What can I say, it's an Emeril restaurant- food is always great and service is beyond perfect. I prefer the atmosphere here over NOLA because there's less tourists but I still prefer Commanders. Nothing beats Commanders.

Excellent food. Good lunch special.. Had an excellent lunch with my wife. Made me wish I was in NO for a few more days so I could go back! I had a lunch special which featured an appetizer, an entree, and dessert for just under $20. I had the Oysters Julia as well as a tomato soup. Both were OUTSTANDING. My entree was the duck confit over toast. It was not what I expected, but tasted pretty good. My wife ordered the veal sandwich and I have to say that it was one of the best steak sandwiches I've ever had. Our dessert was the vanilla creme brulee.. I am biased with creme brulee as I can't remember the last time I didn't like one. :o)

Overall, I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone who is not afraid to try different things. The menu can be intimidating to someone who does not eat out often.

Graeat dining experience.. The lamb ribs and the rabbit are superb. Try to reserve seats at the chef's table to experience the excitements in the kitchen. It certainly was a costly meal, but with the down to earth service and sublime food, this foodie was very satisfied.

Bad service fair food over rated. My family and I ate at Emeril's a few nights ago and after driving more than seven hours I was expecting something really outstanding since it concidered one of New Orleans finest restaurants. I was disapointed. For starters our waiter seemed unusre of himself and was slow and unatentive. We had to make requests to him repeatedly since he often forgot the first time we asked. He was slow and just seemed to lack the skills it takes to be a waiter in a really good establishment. This in itself was enough to tarnish the experince, but when the food came out it got worse.

My wife ordered the flat iron steak and it was dry (ordered medium rare) tough and tasteless. It absolutely blew me away. There was nothing fancy of flavorfull about it. It was just a bad steak. The potatoes were the only thing on her plate that were good. I had the mushroom soup for an apetizer. It was good but nothing special. I had the saffron dusted shrimp entree and again it was good but not anything better thatn you could get at any chain seafood place. Everyone else at the table also had mixed reviews about thier food. Some really good, some fair, some not so good. The deserts were very good.

Over all for the prices I felt that Emeri's was highly over rated. The portions were very small (I only got 5 shrimp). Emeril's is doing very well because of his name and television exposure. If you want great food, go to Commander's Palace. You will get your moneys worth.

Not that good..... I hae been there twice now, and haven't been impressed either time. Service was good, wine list was large but WAY overpriced. I had a ribeye last night, and the meat itself wasn't that good - and then they put some blue cheese on top of it to make it special or something - all it really did was make it not very good. ( and I like blue cheese).

Service 5 Stars, Food 3 Stars. My wife and I were in New Orleans to celebrate our wedding aniversary, after rebuilding Katrina destroyed homes in Mississippi. We had a reservation at Emeril's for 6PM. The momemt we arrived the service was excellent and the resturant was beautiful. I chosed the "tasting" menu; my wife had a salad with a skate entree, and we shared a wonderful bottle of Austrian wine. The issue was with my tasting entree. The plate consisted of a very dry, tough pork chop on top of dry tough meat. I was offered another dish, but I declined, since I expected it to be correctly done the first time. This was all followed by the best desserts. If my meal was prepared correctly, I am sure the rating would have been 5 stars.

Better in person than on television. I was stoked about coming to Emeril's restaurant! I knew I wouldn't get to see him personally, but it was all about the food I watch him prepare on television. I saw so much I wanted to try on the menu, that I went back twice!

The first time, we had two appetizers, split an entree, and split a desert. Great wine selection and the sommolier was right on with her suggestions!

The second time, I decided not to have wine or drinks, but tasted different things on the menu. The specials (appetizer and entree) were tonight's choices. They were out of this world. The foie gras was INCREDIBLE!

As far as the atmosphere goes, it probably wasn't up to a Jean George, but the foie gras was superior to that of 1 West Central Park Drive by a long shot. The fish was superb.

Make sure to take note of how the server's bring things out. They always set the plates down for the entire party at the same time!! It is SO cool!! Especially if you are with a big party. Nobody is served first and has to wait and let their food get cold.

I was ecstatic about the fact that I am a business traveler for the most part, so I am rarely in a hurry when it comes to dinner. This is my one chance to see the new city I am in that week or day. While some may not enjoy spreading the time out, I did. Make sure you plan accordingly. Without even trying, I pushed a dinner date to a two and half hour dinner. Service was impeccable the entire span!!

My only concern was the valet that looked 13. I was a little concerned to turn a vehicle over to him, and they didn't catch the lady's door (a must in a 'for tip' situation). I'd have much preferred they get her door than mine.

Eponymous flagship of Chef Lagasse's empire.. The Scene
The main room is stylish and active. The high ceiling reflects a good deal of noise, but diners don't seem to mind. Not particularly good for a romantic tryst, but it's good for a fancy see-and-be-seen event. Servers are attentive, offering drink and bread basket refills before you think to ask.

The Food
Lagasse's trademark dishes are modern and complex, but employ classical ingredients and techniques. The ever-evolving menu usually includes several items that use such European delicacies as French foie gras or rare Italian white truffle. (Many of his experimental dishes end up as house standards, so if you tasted something notable, odds are, it's still available.) Lagasse's variation on classic barbecue shrimp features tender butterflied shrimp with tiny rosemary-flecked biscuits in a thick wine and Worcestershire reduction. The double-cut pork chop is enormous, grilled to a moist medium-rare and topped with a pungent Mexican chili-based green mole sauce.

Emeril's Re-opens Post K. Live in the neighborhood and wanted to be there for the re-opening on Dec. 8th to support this local business. 4 of us were the first to be seated, best table in the restaurant (except for the private kitchen table), the service was wonderful, Emeril not only served us personally but thanked us for coming in. Our food was delicious, in particular my salmon and the gnocci appetizers were top-notch. A couple of miss-steps in service by the regular waiter, but it was opening night after all. Everyone was a bit nervous, even us! Expensive, but worth it.

Foodie Heaven. Our first visit to New Orleans was highlighted by a planned visit to this NO staple. The food was fantastic, the setting was very beautiful and the service was impeccable, you wanted for nothing. The wine list is like reading an encylopedia with a very wide range in types and prices. The menu has something for everyone and the waiters all very well trained. Sometimes this much attention can be annoying, but these guys deliver it without a hitch and we never felt intruded upon.
