My wife and I were in New Orleans to celebrate our wedding aniversary, after rebuilding Katrina destroyed homes in Mississippi. We had a reservation at Emeril's for 6PM. The momemt we arrived the service was excellent and the resturant was beautiful. I chosed the "tasting" menu; my wife had a salad with a skate entree, and we shared a wonderful bottle of Austrian wine. The issue was with my tasting entree. The plate consisted of a very dry, tough pork chop on top of dry tough meat. I was offered another dish, but I declined, since I expected it to be correctly done the first time. This was all followed by the best desserts. If my meal was prepared correctly, I am sure the rating would have been 5 stars.

Pros: Ambience, Service, Wine List, Dessert

Cons: Tasting Menu

I was stoked about coming to Emeril's restaurant! I knew I wouldn't get to see him personally, but it was all about the food I watch him prepare on television. I saw so much I wanted to try on the menu, that I went back twice! The first time, we had two appetizers, split an entree, and split a desert. Great wine selection and the sommolier was right on with her suggestions! The second time, I decided not to have wine or drinks, but tasted different things on the menu. The specials (appetizer and entree) were tonight's choices. They were out of this world. The foie gras was INCREDIBLE! As far as the atmosphere goes, it probably wasn't up to a Jean George, but the foie gras was superior to that of 1 West Central Park Drive by a long shot. The fish was superb. Make sure to take note of how the server's bring things out. They always set the plates down for the entire party at the same time!! It is SO cool!! Especially if you are with a big party. Nobody is served first and has to wait and let their food get cold. I was ecstatic about the fact that I am a business traveler for the most part, so I am rarely in a hurry when it comes to dinner. This is my one chance to see the new city I am in that week or day. While some may not enjoy spreading the time out, I did. Make sure you plan accordingly. Without even trying, I pushed a dinner date to a two and half hour dinner. Service was impeccable the entire span!! My only concern was the valet that looked 13. I was a little concerned to turn a vehicle over to him, and they didn't catch the lady's door (a must in a 'for tip' situation). I'd have much preferred they get her door than mine.

Pros: Food. Service.

Cons: Valet could use some experience.

Live in the neighborhood and wanted to be there for the re-opening on Dec. 8th to support this local business. 4 of us were the first to be seated, best table in the restaurant (except for the private kitchen table), the service was wonderful, Emeril not only served us personally but thanked us for coming in. Our food was delicious, in particular my salmon and the gnocci appetizers were top-notch. A couple of miss-steps in service by the regular waiter, but it was opening night after all. Everyone was a bit nervous, even us! Expensive, but worth it.

Pros: Food, Service, Wine

Cons: Not a quiet romantic, place, hectic but, fun

Our first visit to New Orleans was highlighted by a planned visit to this NO staple. The food was fantastic, the setting was very beautiful and the service was impeccable, you wanted for nothing. The wine list is like reading an encylopedia with a very wide range in types and prices. The menu has something for everyone and the waiters all very well trained. Sometimes this much attention can be annoying, but these guys deliver it without a hitch and we never felt intruded upon.

Pros: FOOD, Service, Setting

We had a great waiter who looked like it was his first day, but he still knew how to take care of a table. Got to see everything going on in the kitchen, which was nice. Dinner was too pricey, and the food just took too long to come out. 2-person dinner was almost 3-hours. Lamb and chocolate souffle were great. Sausage appetizer was nice, but small. Salmon was undercooked as the apptizer. Romaine lettuce salad with bacon and crab was too basic. Took about 25 minutes to get bread, and an hour to get the salad.

Pros: Great desserts, Friendly waitstaff, Nice atmosphere

Cons: Long wait for food, cramped seating, pricey

Don't hate this place because of the overexposure of it's namesake. The fact is, it is one of the best run kitchens in NOLA. For a real experience, sit at the food bar and watch the chefs at work right before your eyes. Try the Tasmanian sea trout if it is on the menu. Meats are done especially well here as well and you can't go wrong with any order of beef or pork. The chocolate covered peanut butter pie is a must try if you have room for dessert.

Pros: Meats, Desserts, Pro Service

Cons: , crowded

We had a late reservation (10:00 pm). The service at that time was wonderful. The food was great. It was worth the expense and the late night reservation. The decor was nice, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Will definately return.

Pros: decor, food, staff

Okay, as I usually am with restaurants that have the big names and the big prices attached, I was the same with Emeril's. Once I bit into the calamari appetizer, it all changed. The food was delicious and not in measly portions as some fancy restaurants give. My only complaint (and that of my friends) was that some dishes were a little salty, but still very delicious. The desserts were great too. Overall, a great experience from top to bottom, and the place is GORGEOUS.

Pros: food, wine list

seven of us went and had been looking forward to it for months. i had been to Nola and it was great. we sat 20 minutes after our reservation time. they were out of several of our specials. four of us had steaks. two were undercooked and two were cold. the service was terrible. we ordered dessert with our entree order and it still came 30 minutes after our dinner plates were cleared. emeril should be ashamed. the waiter never apologized.

I went in December of '03 for an anniversary. We had reservations for 2 months, and still had to wait, but it was worth it! The food was so delicious and the service was outstanding. Everything was brought out in a timely fashion. The waiters were proper in every move they made. For our one table we had 3 waiters! I felt like a princess. I totally recommend this for a special romantic occasion. At the end of dinner they brought candles in our deserts and wished us a happy anniversary! VERY romantic! Make sure to make reservations!

Pros: GREAT service, awesome food

Cons: valet was not good, the wait
