Disappointing Valentines Day Meal

by omgrossman

I went to the restaurant with my girlfriend for Valentine's day. I had been there before shortly after Katrina and it was practically deserted. This time they turned people away who didn't had reservations (even though there were empty tables around us the entire meal. I would say our experience was average, although for the price and reputation I would expect outstanding. I asked for a Reisling wine, and was given one, without benefit of a wine list or choice. the Paper menu was torn, something I'd expect from a basic dinner, not the COURT OF TWO SISTERS. Our waiter was young and struggled opening the wine. The appetizers were good, but I thought it was obvious my date and I were going to share them, he failed to offer any additional plates. Overall disappointing for Valentines day at that price.

  • Pros: Reputation
  • Cons: Mediocre service, average food

MUST GO

by desijohn

This place is a must for anyone traveling to New Orleans. Just came back & had brunch there. Not only did I have a great brunch here - I can't believe that I ate turtle soup!!! Every item was amazing!!! Have the bread pudding and you will be convinced that you died & went to heaven.

Lovely brunch atmosphere

by tamstrat

My husband and I recently were in New Orleans and he insisted we "find this restaurant with a lovely courtyard" for lunch. He had dined there once before years ago with a group of people and could not remember the name. We walked around and finally he found it and I am so glad we did!!!! This is a lovely place to have a slow lunch. The courtyard was beautiful and the lunch buffet was yummy! I normally am not a "buffet" person, but was impressed with the quality and variety the restaurant had to offer. Great mimosa to go along with lunch too! It was expensive, I was a little surprised when we received our check, but my husband and I enjoyed it so what the heck.

  • Pros: Very lovely atmosphere, loved the courtyard brunch and mimosas
  • Cons: Expensive but you pay for the atmosphere

Decent Food, Beautiful Atmosphere, Horrible Service

by justsomecustomer

I am a local who frequently brought my out-of-town friends and relatives to Two Sisters. The last time I made reservations for a party of ten, I specified that I needed indoor dining (I was on medication at the time that made me prone to sunburn.)

My husband and I arrived separately from the rest of our party. We were seated in the courtyard and our waiter served us drinks. Our other friends never showed up. I asked the waiter to move us to another table, preferably indoors. He suggested we wait a little longer. I am assuming he didn't want to lose the large ticket and gratuity related to a larger party.

Finally, my husband and I decided something had delayed our friends and decided to leave. When we went through the restaurant we found our friends....seated at another table and nearly finished with their meal! When I complained to the management I was neither offered an apology or compensation of any kind. The manager went so far as to say the mix up was MY fault since I didn't own a cel phone and couldn't call my friends to find out where they were. After an angry exchange he grudgingly comped the champagne my friends had ordered.

I have not dined there since nor do I have any intention of doing so.

  • Pros: Beautiful and interesting old building and courtyard, delectable spread at the buffet table
  • Cons: Service was unacceptable

Great place for weekend brunch!!!

by veronicawrig62

The daily jazz brunch buffet is worth it's weight in Gold. It offers more than 80 items, including traditional breakfast foods, cold salads, soup, fruit, boiled seafood, dessert and more. We went on NBA All-Star weekend and the place was crowded.I love the Sweet Potato Salad .On the weekends, a special station makes eggs Benedict and omelets to order. I had the seaford omelet and it was excellent and the bread pudding was the bomb. Brunch wouldn't be the same without Two Sisters' signature mimosas. 2 of those and forget it. I love this place and will be back.

  • Pros: The food and the outdoor patio
  • Cons: Parking

fun brunch place

by pinays

i truly enjoy this courtyard with a nice jazz band playing as you brunch. it is a bit pricey if you don't eat all that much but it is, after all, a buffet and one could, in theory, get ones money's worth. that being said, here are my faves from the buffet: the bacon was spiced, which i enjoyed. i also enjoyed the andouille sausage, the creamed spinach and the eggplant. i did not enjoy the mushrooms, which was a bit too vinegary. i thought the biscuit and the cornbread were ok. i also though the crawfish and shrimp (steamed, i think) were just ok. the bananas foster was excellent, especially when paired with the homemade vanilla ice cream and topped with the praline sauce. that dessert was just divine! (of course, you can eat them separately but you have the option to mix and match.) the oreo cake was just ok although my friend thought it was pretty good. the fudge-like brownie was also good although a bit too sweet for brunch. there were more goodies to try but unfortunately, i could only eat so much.... although i did enjoy my brunch very much (and i must say that our server was great -- he was prompt with the mimosas and to clear our dirty plates and was very good with recommending and explaining the food), i would probably try new restaurants on my next visit to new orleans.

Unforgettable dining, thanks to a large courtyard and an extensive brunch buffet.

by Contributor

The Scene
Fountains and a playful jazz band create a soothing atmosphere under a canopy of wisteria in the French Quarter's biggest courtyard for dining. Inside is elegantly done with white linen and mirrors.

The Food
The daily jazz brunch buffet is an undertaking of tremendous magnitude. It offers more than 80 items, including traditional breakfast foods, cold salads, soup, fruit, boiled seafood, dessert and more. On weekends, a special station makes eggs Benedict and omelets to order. Southern favorites such as grits and grillades are among the best any place. Brunch wouldn't be the same without Two Sisters' signature mimosas. Order a split of house champagne and a carafe of OJ to make it through the meal. Dinner features Creole seafood specialties such as etouffee and several fresh fish dishes, plus veal, beef and chicken.

  • Pros: outstanding brunch

I ate poached eggs!

by bwana39

I always envisioned poached eggs as nasty, but much to my surprise, the creole eggs benedict was to die for. The mimosas were good and the service was great. It is well worth the cost, but I do recommend making reservations early because for the Jazz brunch they go fast! We really enjoyed the food and the jazz. There was so much to choose from that we were just sick when we left...sick in a good way--from having stuffed ourselves.

  • Pros: the food, the court, the experience
  • Cons: cost, too many choices, parking
