Great stay in NOLA!. I've stayed at Rathbone Inn twice. They have two buildings and I have been able to stay in each. My first visit was in one of their lower budget rooms, nothing fancy, but it was a clean, comfortable and quiet room in the back of the main house. My next stay was in a larger room within the mansion. This was a sumptuous suite, with a king size bed, kitchenette, balcony and desk area. Very nice! I was made to feel at home during each stay. The manager Mrs. Pat, was welcoming and friendly. And a big plus is that they have on site parking (it's limited, but I got a spot both times!)I would definitely stay here again - great accommodations, incredible value and perfect location within walking distance to the Quarter.

Historical Charm, Southern Hospitality and Wonderfully Convenient!. While I seldom take the time to write a review....on anything....I wanted to take a moment and share what a relaxing, quaint, quiet, comfortable and charming Inn we found Rathbone to be. Granted, our choice of Rathbone was almost a "must" as we had procrastinated in making reservations for a very busy weekend in New Orleans. We found availability there at the last minute, and I am now so glad that we did.

I was hesitant....some of the reviews online were less than complimentary. They couldn't have been more wrong!! While I can't speak for the condition of the Mansions in the year, or so, immediately after Katrina, what I can speak of is the condition of the Mansions now. The owners, Innkeeper, and staff, are quick to tell anyone that asks that the Inns did fall into a state of disrepair and were in dire need of maintenance for a while after Katrina, due to a number of factors. It's evident that they have, and are continuing, to work very hard to bring the Inns up to a high level of quality. It shows every way you turn.

What we experienced were clean, charming, attractive, comfortable and welcoming accommodations. Breakfast is also included with your room rate, and while advertised as a "continental breakfast", we looked forward to going to the grand dining room each morning! We were always served a large selection of breakfast breads, pastries, fruits, juices, teas, coffees and were even served pancakes with strawberries and sausage for a treat the Sunday morning we were there!

The Innkeeper was a wonderful help in giving us guidance to all of the hottest music spots, hooked us up with a great tour operator, and was great for a laugh! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Rathbone, and plan our next visit for warmer months.....that big pool and jacuzzi looked like it would be just the ticket on a warm New Orleans evening.

A casual bed and breakfast two blocks from the French Quarter.. The Scene
The innkeepers at Rathbone Too recently renovated the entire property. While most of the changes aimed to preserve an old-time air (the former home was built in 1846), the renovations did include the addition of a poolside Jacuzzi. The atmosphere here is quiet and informal. You'll likely be lounging by the pool with the innkeepers when they're not busy with their other property, Rathbone Inn, across the street. The closest restaurant, Peristyle on Rampart Street, is lauded as one of the best in the city.

The Details
All ten guest rooms contain private baths, microwaves, mini refrigerators, coffee makers and telephones. King and queen suites have balcony access overlooking oak-lined Esplanade Avenue. The neighborhood is generally peaceful, but take a tip from the locals: few Orleanians would walk through the area alone at night.
