The Best Corner on Bourbon Street!
by trixiejones69
I really scored when I randomly strolled in to Oz on a fabulous Saturday night!! I was in absolute Heaven when the first thing that caught my attention were the beautiful boys that gracefully strutted their stuff on top of the bar!!! Yes! This place is for people like me( A 50 year-old straight lady)! You will never be able to see more beautiful men than you do at Oz! And the best part about it is you never have to worry about unwarranted advances like you do in the straight clubs! Plenty of straight folks party here as well! But none of them will be a stunning as the precious gay men! We danced to the great club house music until the wee hours of the morning! The experience was well worth my hang-over the next morning!
AB FAB!

This is the kind of place Eddie and Pats WISH they could get into! (as if we'd leave them at the door?!) Strong DRINKS, BEATS, and MEN! One of the must stops on my nola trips! the party usually starts round 12 and REALLY gets kicken by 2! Love the theme nights and special events. I've NEVER encountered sour grapes there, everyone, from the bar tender, to the straight girls, to the security are tru southern gentile!
- Pros: BOOZE, MEN,, MUSIC, pretty lights
it sure ain't kansas, its better

We love this place we are straight woman that go to OZ everytime we come to NOLA. We are always treated like we are there every night. Everybody is friendly, the music and lights are always fun, the shows are always a blast, even thought the Drag Queens always look better than we do!!! Just a fun party bar.
- Pros: great music, strong drinks, friendly folks
A hotbed of gay nightlife, this high-energy, consistently packed dance club also attracts its fair share of straights.

The Scene
Oz is a place for people-watching and being watched. Top-notch DJs provide a bouncy soundtrack for enthusiastic dancers. The constant music is accompanied by a laser-light show and, occasionally, go-go boys dancing atop the bar, contributing to a never-ending Mardi Gras party atmosphere. Circuit boys, sorority girls and glowstick-wielding ravers all party here, but gay men are definitely in the majority. Great daiquiris, happy-hour specials and shots keep the patrons in high spirits.
The Draw
Diva house and high energy rule, though more progressive dance sounds often slip in. Tuesdays are retro nights. Oz continually ranks highly in national, regional and local polls as a favorite dance spot.
Good Times!

Oz is what gay bars are all about. dance music, great drinks, and beautiful people. there is a great contrast between the first and second floor bars, so you won't be bored at all, anytime.
- Pros: Great music, good drinks
yuck!

Even a nice looking, gay white male as myself can think that this "Queer as Folk" version of a bar is too much! The music is terrible and it caters to the pretty boys who flounce around unmercifully! Go across the street to the other bar (who's name escapes me) if you want to hang out with some REAL men and hear some decent music! One word to describe Oz? EWWWWWWW!!!!!
- Pros: attitude, pretty boy heaven, sucky music
- Cons: all, of the, above
There's no place like home

Oz is by far my favorite place to go in New Orleans. Everyone knows that if they want to find me on a Saturday night, Oz is where to look. It's like my second home. The staff is incredible and most are some of my best friends. And if you're looking for some hot men, it's definitely the place to go...from dancers to patrons to bartenders to security, they are by far the most gorgeous around...
- Pros: Great DJs, Excellent service, Gorgeous men
- Cons: Crowded at times, No parking
