Absolutely the best Mufellattas in the world. They invented them, so how on earth could they be wrong? The person writing about cheap ingredients and saving money is way off base. One couldn't be more insanely ignorant about a classic culinary creation.

Pros: Great tasting, and highest level of satisfaction

Cons: Theres only in New Orleans

As a local New Orleans resident, this was once a great place to grab a bite to eat, but it has forgotten that it's the locals that made it famous. This place has replaced the high quality foods it once used with boiled ham, swiss cheese, and stale bread. The olive salad isn't the old recipe, but a cheaper one. They have cut corners every which way and rasied prices to boot!

Pros: Good local groceries and spices for sale inside.

Cons: No parking, poor food quality, pre-made by the dozens, not enough seating, high prices, no restrooms, no place to wash your hands, no place for the employees to wash their hands.

Do not visit NO, without going to Central Grocery. I don't know how many years it has existed, but it is the home of the Mufuletta. Philly has the CheeseSteak, Memphis, the BBQ, but the Muffuletta rules here. We just usually get a half, and waddle back to our hotel for an afternoon nap. The store has a very large selection of gourmet goodies to take back to your hometown. Always crowded, and fun. Love it!

Pros: World's Best & Original Muffuletta! New Orleans Tradition!

Cons: Very Crowded, But Very Fun!

Best Muffaleta anywhere. Too much to eat you will take it home. Not a great ambience but good food.

Haven't been to NOLA since 2004 but the last week or so I've had the sandwich in my daydreams consistantly, I think next weekend will do the trick. My three favorites are C G in Nawlins, Chubbys BBq in Hayti MO. and mariasseafood in Ft, Myers Fl.

Central grocery has wonderful mufellattas and AWESOME olive salad. These mufellattas MUST be the best, because they are the ORIGINAL!!!! Don't trust negative reviews, they are only from people who don't know what a mufellatta should actually taste like!!! (And, trust me, they can't be from N.O. either!!!)

This is the most well known muffuleta place in NOLA. It may not be the best, but it is a good place for the novice to try this delicious Italian sandwich. Eat your sandwich in the store or take it to go. They will keep very well for a fairly long period of time so they are an excellent idea for a take along treat when you leave NOLA.

Pros: Muffuleta

Best muffalettas in town, please... give me a break, this place had a true New Orleans flair, I'll give it that, with its wooden floors and down home feel, but the sandwich was WAY overpriced for the amount and quality of the meat that they use. WAY more bread than meat. I just must not like the olive relish thing at all because I scraped mine off the sandwich, which was really greasy. It was edible, but not worth the wait, the money or the effort. I did pick me up some Crazy Janes Seasoning Mix that I LOVE though, so the trip there wasnt totally wasted, LOL. Check out the store, but skip the food, just my 2 cents.

Pros: Good Location, Liked the Store

Cons: , Poor Quality

The place for oversized, overstuffed, delicious muffulettas.  See the full editorial review.
