Love this place. I recommend it to even the most discriminating critics. If you get a chance to visit this place located in the uptown area of N.O., dont hesitate.

Owner, Sarah does not know how to talk with customers and is rude. I would not advertise for this restaurant again.

I don't know why anyone wouldn't like this restersnunt. I mean IRS totaly a great place for kids and adults to acually see the chef cooking right in front of you! I would totaly revoment this place for any family or or just parents to come to this atmosphered resuranunt.

I've had friends that have worked there... but I'm sorry... it's just awful! The original chef/part owner is no longer there... and man has the quality gone down! The wait staff is slow, forgetful, and they don't know the menu. It was mediocre before the storm... but now it is just unbearable. The last time I went there I was served raw fish that had definitely gone bad (it smelled REALLY fishy and was starting to change color). Even though I sent the bad fish back, it STILL showed up on my bill (as did another item that we never received). Owner/Manager completely unhelpful.
The rolls fall apart.
However, items from the kitchen are ok.
- Pros: Interesting Lampshades, kitchen appetizers
- Cons: Fish, Sushi, Service
One of my favorites

Kyoto is certainly one of my favorite sushi places in New Orleans. With a perfect location, start with their fresh squid salad. Spectacular special house rolls as well as fantastic typical rolls. After you're filled with sushi, walk next door to Creole Creamery for ice cream!
- Pros: Location, food, service, atmosphere
- Cons: Parking can be a hassell uptown
One of the best sushi places in town.

I lived in New Orleans from 2001-2003 and Kyoto was a frequent favorite during my time there. I was thrilled to see that it had weathered Katrina. Though the fish isn't quite as good as I remember, Kyoto's is still among the best sushi places in New Orleans. Recently, I went back with a group of 10 high school students and two other adults from Oregon on a rebuilding trip to New Orleans. We were seated together in the back of the restaurant, which was a welcome change from other small restaurants that insisted on splitting us up. The service was very attentive and the students enjoyed their meals - though many of them ordered from the dinner menu and the dishes came out over a 10 minute span. Service from the sushi bar was much prompter. When we had a mishap over the tip on the bill, the staff graciously corrected the error more than a week after the fact, an act that has permanently won my loyalty to this fine uptown restaurant.
- Pros: Easy parking in the lot across the street, green tea ice cream
- Cons: The wait can get long if you show up after 7
Best Sushi Ever
by mariss228
I've had a lot of sushi in my life, and Kyoto is definetly the best I've had, and everyone I've taken there (which is a lot of people) agrees. The Sara roll is particularly excellent.
- Pros: Delicious food
- Cons: Parking is tricky
Good sushi, fun atmosphere, just remember what you ordered

With the right mindset Kyoto is fantastic. I understand the people who gave it a bad review but they are wrong. Yes, the waiters sometimes forget an order and sometimes the rolls fall apart, but they give great portions, the sushi pieces are always fresh, and their appetizers are very creative. I would recommend the jones roll, baxter roll, and sashimi roll. The box pieces are very big too...
The crunchy roll isn't so great. But overall, Kyoto is great for people who aren't stuck up and can go with the flow. I definitely recommend it
Don't waste your money here.

So disappointing. This place is nothing like its pre-storm presence. Service is unprofessional and unconcerned. Food is not even average for sushi. Don't bother.
- Cons: Not clean!
