I went to the Animal Medical Clinic for the first time after finding it through Google and reading good reviews about it. Unfortunately, my first visit there will be my last. I found the doctors gave poor customer service, rushed me and my pet through our appointment, and did not explain anything to us, including the exam and shot they gave my pet. While I went into the office thinking my pet had one particular health problem, they said she didn't but didn't explain why not. Then they said she had a different problem with little explanation of why they thought so. It made me feel like they were finding things wrong with my pet so that they could hustle me for money. Ultimately, they might not be dishonest people like that but their lack of communication made me feel that way. It would've helped and been a much more enjoyable experience if the doctors had simply explained to me what they thought my pet's health condition was and why they were recommending certain steps be taken to keep my pet healthy.

Pros: Affordable Exam Cost

Cons: Poor Communication

I really appreciate Dr. Saacks services. It is obvious he loves animals and is not in this business for the money. My cat needed tranquilizers to travel, but only a few...instead of making me buy 10 and charging me, and just gave me what I needed at no cost. Plus, it's not often you find someone who owns their own business and is a doctor that answers the phone himself

Pros: Caring staff, great locaton for Uptowners, excellent advice

Cons: Parking

I've been going to Dr. Saacks since before he bought the clinic, and I love the personal service I get. I've also seen him rescue abused and stray animals and find them homes without making any profit from it, so I know he truly cares about the animals, and not how much money can be made. I always recommend his clinic to my friends.

My dog is 16 years old. Part of that is great genes part of it is great veterinary care. Dr. Saacks is a real neighborhood Vet with old school values. My dog has been going to Dr. Saacks since he started practice on Magazine st. I'm glad to say he was open not long after the hurricane so I could stay with a Dr. that knew my animal. He's taken care of my Aussie as a walk-in even when I was just stopping by to make an appointment. He has always been very accommodating and thorough. After the hurricane my dog developed a pretty serious skin problem partly due to stress and fleas. Instead of giving her lots of really expensive medicine he recommended a diet change. He put her on an all organic food, Solid Gold HundenFlocken, that healed up her skin problem and with proper topical flea meds she has not had flea problems again. I've researched the food and also worked in healthfood stores for about 10 years. It's the best food for my dog on the market.

Pros: thorough service, great community oriented attitude, nice staff and clean clinic

Cons: It is hard to park in the neighborhood - gotta be quick and stealthy to get a spot

My animals (3) have been treated "as a number" by many vet offices, especially in the uptown area post-Katrina. The one thing I truly found outstanding about Dr. Saacks was that when I called to schedule a consultation (upon a recommendation) I was not immediately asked to hold and then wait a significant amount of time for someone to return to the phone (and when I say significant, I mean more than 5 minutes - I can call back!). His manner is down-to-earth and friendly, his staff is attentive to detail and even recommended a grooming (I'm sorry-to-say) badly needed at a resonable price. I will return.

Pros: Friendly and agreeable office peronnel and doctor services

Cons: Parking, traffic durring rush hour, far from my home in dwntwn. N.O.

Dr. Saacks is a easy going veternarian who has great office hours and fees unlike some of the other veternarians who are very costly in this area of New Orleans and the Westbank, He is the 7 Vet I have gone to and I must say he is the one I will never change. He treats my poodles with the perfect attention and morals I would expect from a veternarian. Why can't they all be like him?

Pros: Exceptional service

Cons: Parking
