GREAT!
by BELLECHASSERESERVIST
IF YOU LIKE A COLD BEER, FAMILY ATMOSPHERE, AND GREAT FOOD, GO TO SALVOS. I RECOMMEND THE GRILLED TUNA STEAK. UNDER 10.00 AND THE BEST YOU CAN GET IN NEW ORLEANS. YOU WILL NOT FIND A PIECE OF FISH DONE THAT NICELY DOWNTOWN. I CAN NOT GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. MY TREAT ONCE EVERY MONTH IS SALVOS. I GO NOWHERE ELSE. IF YOU WANT TO EAT IN A TIE; DO NOT COME HERE. IF YOU WANT TO LAUGH AT YOUR KIDS WHILE THEY EAT A PLATE OF CRAB; THIS IS YOUR PLACE!
- Pros: FOOD, PRICE, SERVICE
- Cons: NONE
There is no place like it!!

I used to be stationed with the US Navy in Belle Chasse for 8 years and ate at Salvos on a weekly basis. I have never had bad food there. This is the one place I bring all of my friends and family. When I was transferred to Florida, I had a friend bring me one of their shrimp Po'boys! It wasn't AS good after being frozen, but it was still good. Every single time I return to New Orleans, I am sure to drive those extra few miles over to the Westbank to eat at Salvos at least more than once while visiting. Belle Chasse is a friendly community and those working at Salvos show that southern hospitality. They are super friendly and love to talk with their customers. To me, although the atmosphere is not elegant, it is still 5 star. Large groups of people are always eating there and you are served more than enough food. The seafood is the best. I didn't even like seafood before I ate at Salvos! Expect tables or picnic table dining with huge trays of seafood. Shrimp, frog legs, crawfish, clams, catfish and oysters. Daily lunch specials and all you can eat dinners at prices that are unbelievably reasonable. A DON'T MISS SPOT!
- Pros: Prices, serving amounts, friendly staff, best tasting seafood ever!
- Cons: None! Just take it for what it is!
All you can eat Shrimp, Crabs, Crayfish, corn on the cob & red potatoes

I live in Brecksville, Oh. and have been to New Orleans twice while in the US Navy Reserves, and all I can say is, if you are in New Orleans make sure you stop by Salvo's seafood deli. The poor boy is good, but I always order all of the shrimp, crabs, crayfish, red potatoes & corn on the cob you can eat for $12,95(2004). Anything less and you will miss the meal of a lifetime. The fried alligator tail is also very good. Enjoy!!!
Best Seafood Ever in Louisiana!

I am a cashier at Salvo's. And I must say, until now I've never had a Po-Boy. Our food is excellent! It's HOT! and if it doesn't meet your standard needs, we'll be glad to fix it for you without any problems. If you've never been to Salvo's, you don't know what you're missing. You don't even have to like Seafood to come to our Restaurant. We have Hamburgers, Cheese Burgers, Salads & many more for you to try. So what are you waiting for? Spread the word. Come to Salvo's where the food's great, the service is wonderful...we guarantee you'll leave with a smile on your face & full belly. Hope to see you there.
- Pros: Excellent food
- Cons: Small parking lot
Best Ever!!!!

I found this place by accident really. My boyfriend and I were staying in a hotel on the Westbank and didn't feel like bothering w/ Bourbon St so we checked our hotel's guide and they recommended this place. It looks like a broke down shack from the outside but I have learned not to judge a book by its cover. The night we were there they had an all you can eat special of crawfish, boiled shrimp, and rock claws w/ all the fixins. I dont remember the price but I know it was much cheaper than I expected. After Katrina I was devestated that this place was gone forever but I was pleasantly surprised when I returned last year and the food was still just as good as I remembered.

Neighborhood seafood restaurant is known for large platters, po-boys and all-you-can-eat specials.
Best Boiled Seafood & PoBoys in New Orleans
by opal414
Salvo's might be a little off the beaten path, and the ambiance might seem a little more like a deli or seafood shop than a restaurant, but when you try the food you will wonder how you ever settled for Po-Boys or boiled seafood anywhere else. In fact, their french bread, PoBoy "dressing" and boil seasonings are unsurpassed by any place I have ever eaten (New Orleans or otherwise).
I lived in the city for 10 years and this is one of the few places I know is worth returning to - from 3 hours away.
If you love seafood and want an awesome meal at a reasonable price, you'd be silly to miss this one.
- Pros: Overstuffed PoBoys, Super Fast Service, Wallet Friendly
- Cons: Often Full Parking, Not Central Location, Nothing Glamorous
