Dr Steve has been a great friend and vet. I've had him help me 2500 miles away when my cat got FIV. I always stop by to say hello and he helped my mom find a new home for her cat when my sister became allergic. I'm sure he had a darn good reason not to be there during the huricane. He has animals on his property and young kids. I'm sure he was taking care of them. It was a rough time for everyone. I'd bring my pets there in a second if I lived in the state.

Pros: Caring staff and Vet services. Knowledgable

I just have to say i have a great story to share with whom it may concern. My cat became deathly ill one night after pet care had already closed. I had dr. Steves home number due to another close call(my cat drank anti freeze) that happen over a year ago. I called him at home. He was more than nice and arranged for me to meet one of his doctors and a tech. at the clinic that night (dr erica) My cat was immediatly treated and feeling better within 2 days. I will never forget and always be indepted to pet care and all of their caring staff.

Pros: cares about their patients

Cons: new clinic is not finished yet!

Dr. Steve and all of his staff have always done the right thing by my loved ones. There Is a handful of clinics that I would trust with my (family members) and Pet Care Center is on the top of the list! I know that they would and DO treat my animals as if they are their own, I KNOW THAT FROM FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE. My animals even love the clinic!

No matter how many of his friends and employees Steve Slaton has writing rave reviews to pull up his score, the truth is still the truth: Steve adandoned the 30+ pets left in his care. The animals all died slowly, suffering from heat and thirst and hunger and fear, until one by one, they all died in agony. Steve could easily have prevented this, with a little courage and hard work and a bit of expense, but he didn't choose to. Knowing what kind of man he is, I only want to save others from the pain he has caused so many of us who lost our pets because of him. Do not trust him! My original post is below. Too bad the other posts that detailed the deaths at the Pet Care Center have rotated off to make room for the Phony ones .............................. There is undoubtedly a special place in hell reserved for Steve Slaton of the Pet Care Center (formerly on David Dr., now corner of Vets & David). Steve abandoned the animals in his care during Katrina for three days. Almost all of the 30+ animals died slow and painful deaths. Steve Slaton then disposed of the corpses. He made no attempt to contact us (our cell phones were working). While many local vets performed heroically during the storm, Steve Slaton was a coward who allowed dozens of beloved animals left in his care to suffer and die. Don't be fooled by his "good old boy" "I love LSU" pose. Do NOT trust this man or the Pet Care Center to care for your pets. I only wish someone had told me about Steve Slaton before we boarded our pet.

Pros: None. Don't trust Steve Slaton or Pet Care Center. Front desk staff is pleasant and polite, but there always seem to be new people.

Cons: Extremely high prices, long wait after appointment time, disorganized, and cruelly neglectful to animals left in their care.

The service and care at Pet Care Center are the best I've ever experienced. Dr. Steve Slatton and the crew are caring and gentle with my babies. I can always rely on the Vets there to give a precise diagnosis when my dogs are sick, hurt or worse. I now live in Washington DC, but my experience with the crew there has made me wary of the treatment of the vets I've had to take my dogs to here. I would recommend to everyone that I know in NO to go there.
