We went to Pearl's Place on a Saturday, so I was prepared for chaos. It's nearly impossible to find a dress in there. Luckily, I had 3 people helping me search for what I wanted. The dress I found was an incredible price and it fit nearly perfectly. The saleswoman, Miss Ruth, was gentle and kind and very nice and funny. We found bridesmaid dresses on the same day and everything seemed perfect. A week later they called to say that they "couldn't remember" what color I wanted for my bridal gown. Another week passed and they called say they "couldn't remember" what bridesmaid dress I ordered. I live 50 miles away and had to send my maid of honor there in a panic. When my dress came in I went to pick it up and no one seemed willing to help. They were rude and left me alone to try and tie up a corset all up the back! They yelled at me to turn this way and that and spoke to me as if I am a complete idiot. They snapped at me when I asked about alterations. I will NOT go there for the alterations as I have heard HORROR stories. I would rather pay for them elsewhere since I saved so much on the gown price. The only highlight was working with Miss Ruth on the first day. The rest of it was ridiculous. The girl who called to tell me the bridesmaid dresses were in was RUDE. And it should be their responsibility to call the BRIDESMAIDS to let them know. Why take their info otherwise? I have a million things going on. call them yourselves!!!!

i went into pearl's this weekend, and i was so disappointed. it was caos! after signing in and standing around for 45 minutes i decided to try and look at the dresses. as i came around to another tiny area of the store an older lady who worked here, looked atme with complete disquised and asked if i had been helped! i was so mad i couldnt see. we left and went to the place a block down and i was soooo much better! they were actually nice to me. and thats where i found my dress too.
Pros: none
Cons: lots of people and rude workers

I've always heard Pearl's Place isnt the place to go if you want the day you get a wedding dress to be a happy 1,I shouldve listened. The seamstress is just awful & rude. She made me want to take my dress elsewhere bc I felt like I was a pain in her butt. She told off a coworker in front of a customer while I looked at garters & made snood remarks to the customer themself!Unprofessional & cocky. My girls dresses were uneven & she told me "no one looks at them anyway!"In my pictures? The necklines were off!She even said she didn't have to fix my dress. The zipper was stuck halfway down my back!I'm sorry,I thought that was your job! There were 2 nice people there. The 1 who sold me my dress, even though she said "lose ur a** before the wedding so the dress fits" & the 1 at the desk. She smiled for 1!Admitted she was new when she asked a question so she didnt overcharge me & apologized for the seamstress, saying it was just a bad day, making excuses that sounded very rehearsed-"she really has a hard job." 2 minutes later the seamstress threw that lady a cocky comment talking down to her & basically talking bad about a customer right in front of her face.I think it could've been said in private, not in front of a customer who looked awfully uncomfortable after. If your job is such a miserable imposition, quit! Pearl's Place has lovely gowns, but terrible employees, so to Ms. Pearl, you need to seriously evaluate your employees and ditch the rude ones who do lousy work anyway, and please remind your workers that no matter how many hours a bride spends in there, it isn't long enough to get so comfy as to begin taking shots at their body. We aren't friends, we make your paycheck. Wouldn't you like to hear something nice about your store? I'm not asking for caviar and champagne when I walk in the door but how about employees who don't have an attitude.BEWARE OF PEARL'S PLACE.....THEIR EMPLOYEES WILL TEAR YOU A NEW ONE IN YOUR FAT A** AND THE SEAMSTRESS COULDN'T FIX IT RIGHT IF SHE TRIED
Pros: large, lovely selection
Cons: terrible, rude, unprofessional employees

Pearl's place was my first stop on my agenda for my wedding dress shopping day. I was extremely excited. As soon as I walked into the store it was chaos, but I was expecting that on a Saturday. When I finally got assigned an associate, my horrible experience began. I was not impressed with the dresses I tryed on, I really didn't like any of them except one. Almost none of them even fit me to where I could zip them a little and come out of the room, and I'm a size 10....I thought that was ridiculous. The dress that was my favorite there, another girl shopping said that maybe I should try putting a sash around the waist to break up the material ( it was all lace) the associate made a face about the idea and even went on to say that I was receiving too many opinions, well anyway she went get the sash and put it on... if I were to get that dress I would get it only with the sash, it really made the dress. The lady was really just very rude. I will never shop there again!
Pros: Plenty of cute bridesmaid selections
Cons: poor service, too cluttered

I highly recommend using Pearl's to buy a dress for your wedding. However, plan on having someone else perform alterations. Not only are they incompetent, they may not even try. My wife went to be fitted for her dress. A week later, she went back to find no work had been done. They pinned it again, she went back a week later, and again, no work had been done. They simply took out the pins. They didn't even hem the bottom of the dress so that she would not step on the fabric hanging in front of her feet. What is more disturbing is the seamstress claimed the fabric stretched after she altered it, and then she suggested my wife eat a lot this week to help fill out the dress, as she is not a large woman. The straps were to be shortened, they were not. We ended up taking the dress to a seamstress for hire on the West Bank. She was appalled by the lack of work done to the dress. She took thirty minutes to pin the dress, we were able to pick it up the following day. The dress fit perfect the day of the wedding, leading me to believe the seamstress at Pearl's is incompetent, rather than the dress being made of a fabric that stretches too much to alter correctly. After the fact, I was told by word of mouth, if you want Pearl's to do their job, it requires either an angry, screaming bride, or an angry, screaming mother of the bride. Be sure to get there early, you will have a long wait on the service you expect, but won't receive.
Pros: Best selection in Metairie - Go to Baton Rouge if you have time.
Cons: They are incompetent with alterations. They make up excuses as to why their work is shabby.

I had a great experience buying my wedding gown from Pearl's Place. I live in New York, but after visiting several local dress shops - which I could not afford - I emailed a picture of my favorite dresses to Pearl's Place. They found very similar dress styles at much lower prices. To order, they sent me a size chart, so I got measured at a local tailor then I was able to order and pay over the phone. All very smooth so far - but the amazing thing is that my dress came in more than a month early! It was so reassuring to know I had plenty of time to get alterations finished. I'm very sorry to read of the negative experiences people have had, but I have to reiterate that I had a problem-free transaction!

I went everywhere looking for a dress and absolutely hated the process. Many of the salesgirls made me feel uncofortable and really didn't understand what I was looking for. I had found a dress at another store that I loved and I went to Pearl's Place to make sure that was the dress for me. I tried on a couple of dresses and the consultant told me that she knew the dress I had already loved was the dress for me. She found the dress in a catalog and gave me a price that was hundreds of dollars less than the cost of the store I originally found it. She totally understood my personality and style after only being in the store for a couple of minutes. She recommended that I pay for cash and carry and have my alterations done somewhere closer to where I lived to save money!!! They are not out for money and really made what had been an awful experience for me GREAT.
Pros: Great service and understanding staff.
Cons: Rooms were a little cluttered.

I thought that getting my dress was easy. I did it in one day. I only had to pay half. Everyone was nice and helpful. My mom and my fiance's mom got there dresses at Pearl's. She already did alterations. She had to wait for 30 minutes on the weekend but they were done good. My dress is real pretty. I love it. Everyone got a discount!
Pros: found dress quickly, pretty dresses, discounts
Cons: mom had to wait in alteration line

I have been in 12 weddings and gotten dresses from everywhere from Houma to Baton Rouge, and I went to Pearl's Place to get my wedding gown. Everyone was was real nice to me. They are the only store that has any kind of selection, and I know for a fact that the same dresses at other stores are more expensive ( I paid $40 more for the same bridesmaids dress). Alterations are free. They steamed all of our dresses for free. The only downside is that they are busy and sometimes you have to wait a couple of minutes, but they are obviously busy for a reason. It makes me sad that people are writing that they had bad experiences. Mine and my girl's experiences were pretty straight and to the point. They had the lowest price on the dresses by far (and I priced everywhere), there was no mistakes, and we got altered without paying for it. I have to give them 5 stars. This is the least stressful part of my wedding for sure.

My experiences with Pearl's Place have definitely been not only frustrating but disgusting. I had my bridal party order their dresses through them, and they are not organized. No one that works at the place knows what they are doing. Every time I would call, someone would tell me something different. Oh and the hours are horrible. I am sorry, if you are one of only 2 bridal places in the city of New Orleans, you have to have better hours. it seems like every one of my bridesmaid had to wait at least 2 hours to get fitted. HellO!!!!!!!!!!!! that is so ridiculous. I have a solution for you. Use your money wisely and expand the business with a bigger showroom and fitting room, as well as hire employees and train them a little bit better. I think if the place was bigger, had more hours, and better employees, it would be the best salon out there! Good Luck if you go to Pearl's Place!
