ducati happiness

by desmorider at Citysearch

Chuck house has done all the maintance on my desmo 900ss. I have 19,000 on my 900ss, it has performed awsome. The valves were done 3 times. They were honestly done. You could tell the difference every time. I love to rev the engine down. I also took chuck's tips, installed kevlar belts, frame bolt, different rear spring, tires and set up of the bike. The joys of owning this bike was in the great maintance that kept it running great. Many trips up to red bluff, and around mississippi for some turns the bike never let me down. Owning a ducati is all about keeping it in top running shape. Chuck House motor sports is part of the joy of a ducati.

  • Pros: A honest shop, no BS,

Chuck House is the best guy to fix or restore your BMW, Ducati or Guzzi. The guy just knows his sh*t. He rebuilt my Ducati monster which was a total wreck. I was blown away by how much he knew about Ducs.....this guy should have a Ducati dealership. Thanks Chuck and crew!!

Best Euro bike shop in North America

by okiecowman at Citysearch

New Orleans' European bike riders have a gem in Chuck House Motorsports. I bought a bike from him on ebay and checked around to see who should repair it ... everyone pointed to Chuck House. Turns out he's an absolute Guzzi Guru.

Living in Oklahoma City, I bought the Eldorado over the internet. Before I picked up the bike, some problems he could not have forseen arose and he called and explained it honestly. Offered my money back or repair (and upgrade to 1000 cc cylinders) at cost. I elected to upgrade.

When I picked up the bike, he couldn't have been friendlier. We went over the bike and everything was just as he said it would be. Drove the bike home 725 miles without a hiccup. Wish I had his services in OKC!

Thanks again, Chuck.

Keep those Classics on the Road

by joeycigars at Citysearch

I have owned more than 30 motorcycles over the last 25 years, everything from a Hodaka Ace 100 to a Ducati Monster, and every Moto Guzzi I could lay my hands on. Since 1989, I have braught my truly difficult motorcycle problems to Chuck House, starting with Crescent City BMW/Moto Guzzi/Laverda in the 80s and finally with Chuck House Motorsports on N. Claiborne Ave. Last year my LeMans mk III lost oil pressure and welded the crank. This happened a week prior to my planned trip to Daytona. Chuck helped me with locating used parts and stayed late, and came in hours before he opened and was able to do a complete engine rebuild for me in time to make Daytona. Since then he and his staff are always ready to entertain my questions and help me figure what modifications I might want to make. On more than one occaision, Chuck or a member of his staff has called me to inform me that a requested repair would run overbudget, thus giving me the option of proceeding or perhaps doing some of the job myself to save money. The most important thing about a shop that deals with emotions and vintage motorcycles is the honesty and character that is self evident when the question of how to proceed with a one of a kind problem. I've been told to wait a few days while they (The Staff) mull the problem over. We then map out a clear path to mechanical bliss. The bottom line is life exerience doesnt come from a manual, and nobody at the local Honda/Suzuki/Yamaha-Personal Watercraft dealership knows what a positive ground is. I will always reccomend Chuck House Motorsports as the first step inb the classic motorcycle experience.

  • Pros: freindly staff that will answer all questions
  • Cons: parking

Chuck House Motorsports -alternate opinion

by chriss4r at Citysearch

Chuck is da man! He fixed up my Duc at a great price on a tight schedule. Not sure who that yahoo is writing all the negative feedback. I'm writing this because I found that writeup and wanted to put my 2 cents in on this one. If you talk to Chuck you will quickly realize he knows motorcycles especially the Euro brands. Beware if you are a bullsh*tter or poser..... Chuck is a straight shooter who tells it like it is. If you're selling BS or think you can swindle some kind of deal out of him.... look elsewhere cuz he'll see you coming a mile away. Great service at a fair price.....

Maybe someday UNICEF will open up a bike shop for you cheap bastards out there....until then Chuck has a business to run. (get your wrenches out and attempt your own bike repairs if you're so smart.

I know he and his family has suffered after Katrina just like the rest of New Orleaneans. Good luck to the guys down at Chuck House Motorsports.... keep up the good work!

  • Pros: Vast mechanical knowledge especially Ducatis
  • Cons: Needs free cigars

the only place for bmw's - motorcycles duh

by nodmar at Citysearch

I recently resurrected my 1974 BMW R90/6 from a 7 year deep freeze in my shop. It was dusty and the then new tires had flat spots from sitting. I recently accepted a position which requires a bit of travel and felt the time was right to get the bike out to fight fuel costs and I wanted to ride again. Chuck House motorsports treated me fairly as I respected their recommendations on what to do with the old bike. It came down to selling it to Chuck for parts or moving forward with a price tag that out stripped the market value of the bike. We opted for exploratory surgery and a partial rebuild that was a known quantity for the vintage. Chuck worked on the bike personally to ensure that the safety and quality of the rebuilding effort stayed on course. This was the course that we set only after I agreed to a tear down to find out what was wrong and then make an assessment. Needless to say the bike rides as stock and if I have any quirks with it Im welcome back to the shop for a quick adjustment. The cost was exactly what he detemined during the first phase and not a penny more. Chucks experience with these bikes is an invaluable resource and every diagnosis was right on nothing was rushed for the sake of my time table. If it needed to be looked into (self machined pushrods, a bent fork brace?) he scoped out and fixed the problem. If you believe in letting people who know what they are doing do their job then Chuck is the right guy to work on your European bike. I mean he only had 30+ flooded bikes in the shop that I saw now running.

  • Pros: read review
  • Cons: traffic at the shop location is not MC friendly
