May I suggest

by Mark Toast

I suggest anyone interested in further reviews go to Yelp and read them there. I'm from NJ originally and have been eating this pizza since the place opened. Great pizza. Can't give a review on service, have only eaten in once at the bar. Tourists, remember, we are BELOW sea level. You can't make yeast rise the same. These folks have it down. Go....Eat.

  • Pros: Great Pizza

Good...not great...

by Nekishaw

I have been wanting to try Slice for a while. I finally did and I was not impressed. The pizza was so-so, and it didn't help that my slice was a bit overcooked and too hard for my tastes. I asked for water and my glass was dirty and sent back twice. I finally settled on a plastic cup. I also saw the waitress pick something up off the ground and set it on the counter where the kitchen crew puts food when it is ready. Not so sanitary... The bruschetta was actually really good, and the meatball sandwich was also tasty. Unfortunately, the worst thing on the menu is the "slice."

  • Pros: Good bruschetta, drink specials
  • Cons: Poor customer service, questionable cleanliness

their service sux, but the food is almost good enough to cover for it

by filetmax

Food is fine, but every single person that works there is either too high to remember you ordered something, or FAR TOO COOL to actually serve it to you. I was in there today, since I live around the corner and it's no big imposition to go there, and there were TWELVE EMPLOYEES to ELEVEN CUSTOMERS on a lazy saturday afternoon. Here's the deal, they're all young trustafarian hipster people, so they don't wanna have a real work environment for work, I get that, but seriously - customers deserve as much respect as you give yourselves. Don't be jerks to the people making your dream of owning a restaurant of your own happen. I assume at least one or two of these 20something people has some ownership interest in the place, otherwise it wouldn't be run that way, so that's real advice. Seriously, it looks like one or two of them own it, and they invited all their friends and their girlfriends to work there, and everyone just half-asses it. I don't know. Good pizza, but you'd make a lot more money if your servers didn't act like they were doing the customers a favor every time you go in there. Like I said, I live around the corner and I love pizza, so I've been in there 5-6 times, and the service is NEVER good. I feel bad for the other reviewer who said she went in there with her family and waited an hour while others got served, and I totally believe that it happened just like they said. And I also believe no manager would talk to them because THERE SEEMS TO BE NO MANAGER. I just don't like that. As if you're TOO SQUARE TO EAT PIZZA. That just sux. If someone thinks he or she is too cool to bring normal people and their kids a pizza, then that person IS JUST NOT THAT COOL. That's it. STOP TRYIN TO BE HIPSTERS! Oops, sorry, thougght I was done.

  • Pros: quality ingredients, kitchen is very good, albeit slow
  • Cons: SERVICE FROM THE HAG WAITRESSES IS TERRIBLE TERRIBLE

Feel like your are at a friends house!

by Foodreviewer504

This is the best pizza I have ever had. I have been to New York and Chicago and this pizza stands alone. It is different then both those styles of pizzas, but I think it can hold its own versus any pizza in the world. As far as bad management goes, I have never seen it. I was there during Mardi Gras and remember the incident described here. I was in one of those other tables sitting near the impatient jerks. When a pizza shop has about 30 new tickets a minute pouring into a kitchen with one pizza guy and one slice guy, your food might take a minute. I watched the manager say to that table, "Im bartending and really busy, you're welcome to speak to me in the bar. The people ignored him. I also watched the same manager make 2 white russians while running food and talking to a table. If anything that manager should have gotten a medal. I wish my managers could do just two things at once.

All in all this pizza is worth the wait! i have added to my must see list of things in New Orleans.

  • Pros: Young staff with a great mix of tunes. Mixed customer base

BEST pizza, and fabulous salads

by Slice5

LOVE this place!!! Can be noisy when busy, but in a good, lively way, and sometimes, very peaceful and quiet, in a wonderful way. Absolutely LOVE the salads, high quality ingredients, and delicious, and nice that they have half-portions, that are very generous, but leave room for a slice of their WONDERFUL pizza. LOVE the Bacon Basil and Garlic, lovely thin crust, and TONS of sweet roasted garlic. No vampires in this neighborhood!!!

  • Pros: Wonderful food
  • Cons: Can be noisy and busy

Awful Customer Service

by CPinDC

My husband and I were very disappointed with our recent visit to Slices over Mardi Gras weekend. Having family in the restaurant business, we are forgiving and patient with service, particularly during special events; however, our recent experience at Slices was one of the worst restaurant service experiences we?ve had. We were seated in the dining room and placed our order within 20 minutes of arriving. Then we proceeded to wait for 1 ? hours for a single pizza. This would not have been an issue if nearby larger parties seated after us, some more than a half hour, had the same wait. Two tables of eight came in after us, ordered, received their food, and finished eating before our food arrived. One table had even left a good 20 minutes before we had a glimpse of our pizza. Additionally, other patrons walked into Slices, ordered, and left in less than a half-hour (most weren?t called ahead).

When our pizza arrived after 1 ? hours, we asked both the server and the waitress to bring the manager to our table regarding our experience. The server returned and informed us that the manager would not speak to us. We informed the server that we did not intend to pay for the pizza and were told that we could either eat the pizza and pay for it or leave without eating the pizza and not pay. We weren?t offered a discount or even an apology. She kept telling us that they were just so busy, which didn?t explain the tables around us. Needless to say we left the pizza on the table untouched and did not pay. We went to the BBQ restaurant next door, which also was very busy, and were fed in less than 10 minutes. I?m sure Slices has wonderful food, but sadly they have poor management that needs a lesson in customer service.

Thick Sicilian and crispy Napoleon hand-rolled, stone-baked pies are slathered with homemade sauces and topped with everything from pepperoni to pesto.

by Contributor

In Short
It may look like a hole-in-the-wall, but it has become a favorite among locals, couples looking for a cheap-yet-intimate date and passers-by lured by the smells of fresh-baked dough and garlicky tomato sauce. Stop by for a slice or sit down to gorge on pizza--toppings range from the traditional (fresh mozzarella and tomato) to the exotic (gorgonzola and prosciutto)--calzones, penne pasta and fresh-tossed Italian, Caesar or garden-greens salads.

The Best

by nawlinscouple

This is by far the best in town! I have eaten at all of the listed establishments and 2 are very good. What is certain is this is the best. Several on the list shock me as to having been rated better. I just got back from New York and ate at the best of New York. It was excellent and equal but no better than Slice. Our pitcher of beer was $16 and you can have a pitcher of beer for $5 at slice. Minus the beer, this pizza is still the best!

  • Pros: Fresh Ingredients, Great price, Excellent balance
  • Cons: None

good pizza

by tiggagirl

the food was very good... service.. not so great... some booths are literally two feet from the counter where the service type people make your drinks and keep the silverware... and you can overhear if they have messed something up... aside from this... the food was excellent... and its a fun location for walking St. Charles if you like that sort of thing
