Great haircut
by eckertle at Citysearch
I've had trouble finding a great hair salon in the city, but was totally impressed with my haircut last week. My stylist Catherine was excellent and personable! My hair looks amazing!
- Pros: great skill, friendly staff, located in a great mall
- Cons: parking
Amazing shampoo/style and hair color with Garland
by avedagirl at Citysearch
I come in town for conventions a few times a year and always go to Garland to have a shampoo/style (I like my hair straight, and have a hard time controlling it in the New Orleans humidity). Once in a while I have my color touched up as well. He always does an amazing job! The team there is friendly and knowledgeable!
- Pros: color, service, friendly staff

I have been going to Catherine at paris parker (canal place) for about a year. She gives a great haircut.
- Pros: friendly service
Really Stinky
by Gretch at Citysearch
There is a really nasty odor that emits from Lakeside Shopping Center's Aveda Salon. Everytime I go there I can barely stand the smell. I am thinking about going elsewhere because when I leave there the smell is in my hair and on my clothes. It is like a plumbing stench or like something died in the walls. GROSS!
- Pros: high end hair care (if your into that)
- Cons: Lakeside Shopping Center Aveda smells really bad!
Regular Customer

I have been going to the Paris Parker in Lakeside Mall for years and had been to two stylists there and recently tried the Prytania location. The people I have had cut my hair were talented and listed to what I asked the last cut with Meranda was great. She cut my really long hair short and did a great job. I love Aveda products and that is really why I keep going back. But I have to agree with some of the other posts about the stylists not being very friendly. Going to get my hair done is not some sort of well rounded experience. For that kind of money you would expect a more friendly environment. But, hey, my hair looks good and I smell great when I leave and I guess that is why I take it.
Cost not worth it

I travel for a living and get my hair done everywhere. I live here, though. I have gotten just OK results, I sure have had better results at other salons for a lot less. Unless you are addicted to Aveda products, shop elsewhere. And $25 to wax brows is just foolish.
Salon and spa offers hair and nail services, as well as bodywork, facials and more using Aveda products.

Best of Canal Place

I recently went to Paris Parker Canal Place!!!!! What a great experience.... Everyone was dynamic and attentive. I got my Highlights with Meredith and Cut with Tommy , they were fantastic. I agree that it is a hidden treasure in Canal Place located on the second floor. I have told all my friends about my experience and will continue to see them for my spa needs and desires. I believe that everyone there was great due to their friendliness and and attitude towards each other as a family and not just employees. I will be back on a regular basis.
- Pros: People
- Cons: Hidden Treasure
You will not be disappointed

A cut with Amy is worth every dime spent. If you want to be treated with respect and care; this is the place to go. Do not settle for anything less than what you deserve. To have your stylist actually listen and give you a cut that works is what Amy is all about.
- Pros: Relaxed, Parking Validated
- Cons: None
ups and downs

I've been going to the Paris Parker Salon on Prytania for several years, and it really is a mixed bag. Generally the staff have not been friendly. I recently had a terrible hair cut. I got the sense that my stylist was rushing me out the door (I may have been impinging on her lunch break). What's worse, she was one of the higher priced stylists! I've had way better, more attentive cuts from some of the lower priced staff. So it's really unpredictable. Overall, mediocre service, overpriced and variable quality. As of today I breaking up with Paris Parker and going elsewhere to have my bad haircut fixed.
- Pros: clean, easy to get appointments
- Cons: variable quality, overpriced
