Best Spa Uptown!!
by upt4real
I just moved back to the University area, and am so glad I am even closer to Venus Experience. I can always get an appointment at Venus, even on the same day. Their prices have NOT gone up in the past few years, and I am always happy with my services.
LInda is the best eyebrow and bikini waxer I have ever gone to, and Gladys and Bianca are wonderful with mani/pedis! Venus has a ton of nail polish colors, and their space is very open and relaxing. Mercedes is one of the nicest people I have ever met!
Venus has saved me time and time again when I have events come up, or just need a little pick me up. You will not be disappointed if you give Venus a try!
- Pros: quick, easy, clean, very nice, well-priced
- Cons: What are the drawbacks?
Does anybody in New Orleans know what a Brazilian wax is?
by adan84
I could not call what I got at Venus Experience a Brazilian wax. 1) I was so irritated afterward that my skin starting peeling, which has never happened before (and got waxed in Brazil for many years). 2) No Brazilian would ever use strip wax. Brazilians use hard wax that doesn't need strips. I have not yet found a salon in New Orleans that actually uses this wax, which is much less painless and much better for the skin. Unfortunately the strip wax is cheaper so many salons do not buy it.
Fantastic Brazilians with Linda

Venus Experience is GREAT. Linda is amazing--I go every 4 weeks and am never disappointed. She's extremely fast and nearly painless, and always does an excellent job. Mercedes was also good but Linda was faster and hers seem to last longer.
The prices are not too high for the quality of service and it's always easy to get an appointment. You can probably walk in pretty easily but I'd call ahead just to make sure.
Don't bother trying anywhere else, just go to Venus Experience and ask for Linda!
- Pros: Good hours, very skilled staff
- Cons: Could be cheaper
It is hard to find a quality waxing place as Venus
by GracieTX
I recently moved from Louisiana to Dallas TX. Linda used to do my bikini waxing and eyebrown...... Now, here in Dallas, I have been for two years trying to find a place where I can get a great wax.... Really dont care about pricing......... I just need a professional place....... I have not find it yet.... Everytime I go to Louisiana I go to Venus to get all my waxing done there............... I highly recommend to make appointments ahead of time...........
Painfully Inexperienced
by tulanelaw
I just got my eyebrows waxed by Mercedes at Venus Experience, and it was like she'd never attempted to wax eyebrows before. After tentatively putting a few tiny dabs of cool wax on my eyebrows and taking them off at a weird, ineffective angle, she began tweezing them. When I told her I'd prefer more waxing to tweezing, she said something about broken hairs being too short--if they were broken, she broke them, because I hadn't had a wax in a month, and I certainly hadn't touched my eyebrows in the intermittent period.
After it was all over, she rubbed my eyebrows, harshly, over and over with her fingers until I had to ask her to stop--it hurt, and she wasn't applying anything soothing, just rubbing them! I just got home and looked in the mirror, and my entire brow is red and puffy. Yuck, seriously.
I've gone to Venus once before, when my eyebrows were waxed by Bianca, and she did a perfectly serviceable job. Seriously, though, if I were more courageous/more obnoxious, I'd go back and give them a piece of my mind. I'm in pain, and I look gremlin-esque. Don't go!
- Pros: conveniently located
- Cons: incompetent staff and overpriced services
Clean/Relaxing/Experienced!
by KikiheartsBambi
I'm new to the area and I went here after reading some positive reviews and found that they were right and it's a great place to get your eyebrows or any other wax done. Maria was very experienced, gentle, nice, and I also noticed they use a higher end wax for sensitive skin. It's hard to find a good place to get your eyebrows done well and the way you like it. She listened to me and she took her time to do a good job. I was very happy and I will be going again. She says she only works Mondays though which could be a little inconvenient for some people but I'm sure they have other girls that do a good job as well. :)
- Pros: Clean-Experienced-Gentle-Nice Ambience in the salon-easy parking
- Cons: walk ins will probably have to wait
Great Waxing & Manicures
by KD2008
I was a Tulane student and went to Venus for all of my waxing and manicure/pedicure needs. Gladys is amazing. Her brazilians are painless and her manicures DO NOT CHIP. I've never had a manicure last so long it's crazy. It's walking distance from Tulane and you can pretty much always get an appointment. Call a day in advance to make sure. A little expensive but definately worth it.
- Pros: pretty much everything
- Cons: a little expensive but worth it
Great Services
by Larece
I am new to Venus but so far I love it!! The brazilian waxes by Mercedes are the best (quick and not painful). I just recently got a pedicure and it was really good as well considering the pedicurist spoke no English at all..
Disappointing waxing services
by uptownnolagirl
I was disappointed with the waxing services at Venus, especially considering this salon was highly recommended by my peers and on internet review sties. I'm a 4yr nola resident. Recently I had just returned to nola after living in L.A. for a few months, where I regularly got brazilians from a phenomenal waxer there (Painless Waxing by Larissa) who did an exceptional job, there was minimal pain involved, and her services were cheaper than at Venus ($35 vs $45, crazy considering everything in L.A. is usually a lot more expensive!).
Pros: I was able to get in quickly at Venus without an appointment, their customer service was fine, their shop seemed clean.
Cons: The worst brazilian I have ever received. "Quick" service was a euphemism for rushed, it was quite painful, the wax was too hot and probably burned my skin a little, and the general atmosphere was very uncomfortable - the waxer Gladys hardly said two words, the room was too hot especially with the spotlight; all just increasing the discomfort of the actual wax. The rooms are partitioned but not completely closed off near the ceiling, so you can hear people in other rooms. Gladys was nice enough, but I was very unsatisfied. When my skin finally recovered a few days later (it's ridiculous to have to wait that long), it was finally evident that the quality was poor - there were a lot of stray hairs left, which normal waxers typically tweeze as they are working.
I decided to try Venus again, thinking maybe I just had one bad experience. I hoped that the receptionist could recommend a more skilled waxer. When I called, the woman who answered the phone did not speak English well, and was not able to answer any of my questions. When I kept asking for the name of the professional to perform the waxing service (to make sure it was someone other than Gladys), she kept replying "brazilian." I continue to be frustrated with this salon and the quality of waxing service available in New Orleans.
