Disappointed ex-customer!!!
by rob9394 at Citysearch
Ok...I just left Pit Stop and am quite agitated, so I will do my very best to write an unbiased review (despite how I feel right now). As far as the repairs on my car...I own an Audi TT and have had to have work done on it twice. Both times, I sent it to Pit Stop. This last time, my alternator went out, so I had to have it towed to the shop which was about 6 blocks away from where it stopped. I believe that the mechanic is competent and did the repairs pretty quickly at a price that I believe was probably not over inflated (although not cheap). The problem that I have is that a piece was missing off of my radio that I know for a fact was there when my car was dropped off at the Pit Stop, and the owner refused to take responsibility for it. I have an aftermarket flip out radio with navigation and video that is not easy to operate if you are unfamiliar with it. There is a loose wire in one of the speakers that needs to be repaired which causes the radio speaker to occasionally make a very irritating static-like sound. What I am SURE happened is that at some point (maybe when the car was being test driven by the owner after repair), the radio was making that very irritating sound and the owner tried to turn it off someway, which resulted in a piece being broken off of the radio. BUT that is not my major problem. The biggest problem that I have is the owner's failure to take responsibility for it and trying to give me some LAME excuse that when my car lost power, the flip out face (which is set to only go in after pressing a certain button), miraculously went in on its own and was never touched by him or any of his employees. When I pointed out that it was not possible for the radio to have been reset on its own and then returned back to the setting that keeps it from automatically closing without anyone changing the settings again (which had not been done), he simply insisted that he did not do it. Take pictures of your car before leaving it!
- Pros: Fast turnaround
- Cons: Failed to take responsibility for damage done to car radio!
Excellent service and same day repairs

Pit Stop got my ailing car in for service in the morning and had it ready to go by late afternoon. I was extremely impressed by the customer service - this shop is one of the few I have encountered where they manage to avoid being condescending and instead use the opportunity to educated the consumer. The problem with my car had been misdiagnosed at another shop, so I really was confused. The owner took the time to show me the damaged part and how it worked in relation to my car as a whole. Furthermore, the owner offered to do a cost-saving fix, which he felt confident would get my car moving again. He said if it didn't work, he would apply the cost toward the more expensive fix. I felt this was incredibly fair. It has been two weeks since I got the repair and I have had no further problems - my car is running better than ever. From my experience, I can say that Pit Stop does solid repairs, while ensuring that their customers feel valued.
- Pros: Same day service, courteous and professional manner
- Cons: None
Awesome service, great work.

This is the second time i have dealt with them and both times i was towed within the 1st hour i called and the work was done the same day or early the next day. They are exceptionally understanding and genuinely care about the work. The price was more than fair for the amount of time and parts that were needed. I will always recommend them and send my vehicles to pit stop. This is a great service.
- Pros: They are very reliable and quick.
- Cons: i have no cons, they are great.

I really appreciated the staff taking the time to work with me (I am in NH) and my daughter (down in LA). After the accident, I didn't know where to take the car for repairs. Not being down there made it even harder. Pit Stop took care of everything and went beyond expectations to make the repairs as affordable as possible.
- Pros: Looked after my daughter's car

Why only one star rating?
1. They would not give me a ball park on what my repairs would be until they took my truck apart. At the point of my truck being taken apart if I had chosen to go somewhere else they would have charged me for several hours of labor and a "diagnostic fee" as well. I was "stuck". They are a bit pricey (more power to them) but if I had gotten an estimate I would have taken it somewhere else.
2. My truck took a week longer to repair than they originally estimated (the first time). The only updates I received on the job were when I called to check. Even with the delays I received no calls.
3. My truck BROKE DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY 3 (THREE) DAYS AFTER GETTING IT BACK AND SPENDING $1300.00. I reluctantly paid to have it towed back to the shop thinking that it was something that may have gone wrong with the work just done that would be covered by warranty. Of course they said it wasn't. This was UNBELIEVABLY COINCIDENTAL.
NOTE: It was leaking radiator fluid when I had it towed back. They never addressed why it was leaking and blew off the fact that they had just done work near the radiator, actually replacing several hoses. No apology, no explanation. (It never leaked before I brought it in) (I was actually charged for radiator fluid on both of my bills. Why would they charge me for something that was leaking after work they just did? I have no idea)
4. The new repair costs were another $722.00. I could have gotten over that except it took two and a half weeks to fix. I could have even gotten over that. I wouldn't receive calls for days at a time, until I picked up the phone to keep checking and getting excuses that "they were busy" and they had "big jobs" to work on.
5. On the 16th day of my truck being in the shop (for the second time) without receiving any courtesy calls as to what is going on I decided to tell them I would tow my truck out of their shop and have it serviced somewhere else....
......to which SHAWN BERGER said "fine, that's great. That's easier for us. come pick it up. I don't care. I'll put the parts in the cab and you can just pay for the parts. I have plenty of happy customers. I can't make them all happy." WOW. Customer service is truly dead. On a good note, Mike called back and tried to smooth things out. Thanks Mike.
Customer service is actually really easy.
Sumary:
1. They had my car for over four weeks. (I was without transportation)
2. I spent over $2,000 at the shop (pricey)
3. I paid for towing and a rental car in the mean time (no reimbursement or apology)
4. Customer service was the worst I have ever seen (no communication, rude communication)
5. I'm glad my experience is over and I have my running truck back.
- Pros: Mike was nice
- Cons: Took Forever! Horrible Customer Service!!! Pricey!
Auto repairs done right the first time........

Pit Stop Automotive has redeemed my faith in mechanics!
I went to Pit Stop Auto after getting a suspiciously high and inaccurate estimate at another auto repair shop. It turned out to only be my brakes, which were fixed on my car in one afternoon at a reasonable price. These guys fix the problems that other mechanics can't. Period. Fast and curtious service
Pit Stop is capable of repairing just about any automobile that you may have in your driveway or garage. The professionalism of this shop and honesty of the owner and workers is amazing. We felt that the price was completely reasonable and in fact would gladly take our automobiles here for all of our repair needs.
If you are looking for a great place to have your used auto repaired or serviced give Pit Stop a call. They will not let you down and you will be pleasantly surprised when the repairs are completed.
- Pros: reliable curtious service, honest, efficient and affordable
- Cons: none
Fast Service with Genuine Care

I had work done on my door once, and when an issue arose in the same door, it was taken care of very quickly. They have great deals on their website and are definitely willing to go the extra mile. I'd definitely suggest this repair shop to friends and will be using them again.
- Pros: Fast Turn-around
Nice paint job, quick turnaround time

pitstop
I first found Pitstop in Dec when I my girlfriend's Audi was having some issues. I spoke with Shawn on the phone, and after describing the issue, was reassured with his "can do" attitude.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the car into Shawn before I left for San Diego and before I could return, she took the car to Audi for its PM and they corrected the issue at the time.
Flash forward to March and my girl's car lost its clutch at Napoleon and S.Claibourne. As I had Pitstop's number in my cell from the last time, I called, explained the clutch was gone and we'd need to tow it in--Fallon said no problem bring it in!
Shawn's crew did a fab job in getting the car repaired with an eye toward saving us as much money on the parts as possible but not skimping on doing the repair right.
It's now April, and, I've taken the car for a week on a morning and evening trip to Baton Rouge. The clutch is like butter it shifts so smoothly. The car is running BETTER than it did before.
I can absolutely recommend Shawn's services--in fact, I took MY car to him (see next review) and again, running better than it did before.
Shawn is always communicative regarding a repair, he and his staff are knowledgable, friendly, and fast! It's rather amazing too considering HOW much business he has he can turn around a major clutch job so quickly--even with the delay of german parts!
Folks, I've found my mechanic--and I'm picky too. I was a warranty administrator for a CAT Dealership for 6 years. I KNOW BS when I smell it, and Pitstop MORE than passes the smell test.
- Pros: Fast, Economical, and FRIENDLY!
- Cons: None
Great place to get your car worked on

Just recently took my 1999 Toyota Tacoma Pick-up in for an alternator problem. Turned the job around in a few hours. After I left, the owner realized I had been over charged by $100 for labor. I had no idea. They called me to let me know of their mistake, and corrected the bill. How many mechanics would go out of their way to give you money back? Their honesty has made me a loyal customer.
- Pros: Professional, Honest, quick
Great to get you on the GO!!!

I was on my way to Texas for business and broke down a few blocks from Pit Stop.
I needed a new altenator and battery and I needed it right away. It was 3:12 pm. Pit Stop closes at 5pm.
I called Pep Boys and they were cheaper by $30 bucks but I was closer to Pit Stop so I went there--and I'm sure glad I did.
The owner, Shawn, was super professional, no nonsense or hype and straight forward friendly. He was busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest with cars coming and going but he squeezed me in.
I thought I was going to have to spend the night there and get my car the next day. But Shawn and his crew had me done and paid for by 4:58pm and I was on the road.
I was there for less than 2 hours. Shawn offered me something to drink and ran that place sharp. Repaired cars and happy customers are flying out of this shop.
I made it to Texas and couldn't be happier. I highly recommend breaking down with Pit Stop Auto as your fix-it team.
- Pros: Fastest Friendly Service
