Cool mall
by dmenkes
One of the largest malls in the area, Lakeside features a food court with local menu choices such as crawfish. The shops themselves are cheery, and the place as a whole has a very positive vibe. Navigation is a times confusing but there's always something new to explore. I love coming here.
- Pros: large parking lot
parking nightmare

I don't know why this is the hardest place to park. It doesn't matter what time of day it is, it's crowded.
Bastion of suburban chic.

The Scene
Yuppies cruise for deck chairs in Restoration Hardware, tartaned private-school girls scour sale racks in J. Crew, wanna-be fashionistas haunt Nicole Miller and soccer moms abound--in other words, it feels, smells, looks and sounds like a suburban mall. The food court hosts mostly fast food oufits, but if you don't want to be served while standing, try P.F. Chang's, the wildly popular Chinese restaurant attached to the mall.
The Goods
Anchored by mid-range department stores Dillard's and JCPenney, this 120-store mall is sweetened by higher-end boutiques, kiosks of handy products and big national chains like Gap, the Limited properties and Foot Locker. The aging complex has had to make some updates over the last several years, but plenty of urbanites still flee the city to shop at Lakeside, long the epicenter of Metairie's retail community.
