Elizabeth's is surely a place to visit for breakfast in Bywater, especially on the weekends. But make sure you arrive early, otherwise you will be "forced" to go upstairs and drinks a couple of mimosas or bloody mary's. Torture in the nth degree. Anyway, not known by most, but known by those in the know, so go early and enjoy!
Pros: Alcohol and breakfast, need I say more?
Cons: Waiting an hour to get a plate of scrambled eggs

This is my first post here. Elizabeth's doesn't look like much inside or outside, but, the Fried Chicken made up for that. Be there when they first open at 6:00, and you might have the whole place to yourself.
Pros: FRIED CHICKEN

Went there several years ago during the Jazz Festival. It is now on our list of can't miss spots whenever we go to New Orleans. The Waffles are unbelievable, warm, with fresh fruit and homemade whipped cream. My husband loves the spicy sausages and egg dishes that are served. The interior is really fun, and the serving staff is warm and friendly. We haven't made it for dinner yet, but hope to on our next trip.
Pros: Great food, bright friendly atmosphere, great service.
Cons: Little hard to find first time around.

I'm a local and Elizabeth's is one of my favorite places to eat lunch. They have daily specials that change from week to week. All of the desserts are made in-house. This restaurant has a wonderful neighborhood feel.

8 of us showed up at 10:30 on Saturday morning, put our name on the board and were seated within 30 minutes. The wait staff was charming, knowledgable and very good. Loved the stuffed oysters and the gumbo was very good. The desserts looked great but we were STUFFED by that point. A very affordable and delicious experience - we'll be back.
Pros: Food, Service, Value

A very popular place for locals. It's unassuming but once you're seated be prepared for some of the best and most filling entrees east of the FQ. I had South Carolina quail in a tasso, leek and thyme gravy. I felt like a fat, happy cat when I was through. And I now totally understand the sign at the cash register---"You want SECONDS?!"
Pros: neighborly feel, helpful wait staff, food, food, food, food

Give me Elizabeth's over that other famous E restaurant anytime. The Praline Bacon, Eggs Elizabeth, Redneck Eggs Benedict - poached eggs perched atop fried green tomatoes instead of english muffins - this is my favorite favorite breakfast place of all time. The only downside is it's new-found popularity is making it harder to get a seat!
Pros: FOOD!, Huge Portions, Friendly Service

Some of you folks in the audience have never been to Elizabeth's. Let me tell you this is the place. Good solid breakfast, tasty po'boy sandwiches, and deelicious lunch plates keep the Bywater locals coming back daily. Wait it gets better. For the big eaters at home they got some fine desserts. I'm talking Red Velvet Cake, Bread Pudd'n, and homemade ice cream. You gotta check this place out. BAM!
Pros: service, lunch specials, affordable
Cons: a times crowded, no dinner
