I’ve always heard that Emeril’s restaurants were overpriced and served mediocre food at best and Delmonico certainly proved it. The bread that was served before the meal was only lukewarm and the butter was nearly frozen. I would at least expect the bread to be hot and have soft butter that we can actually cut with a knife. Our entrees were mediocre, but certainly not worth $180 for 4 entrees alone. I could have gotten a better piece of fish at Danny & Clyde’s restaurant and gas station. Our waiter was an intimidating French guy who kept bugging us by asking if everything was good. Let me explain, I don’t normally mind if a waiter asks us 3+ times if our food is good. However, we were all engaged in a conversation and he came over 3 times and would repeatedly ask us if our food was good in a loud and demanding voice. The third time he came over, he said “it’s good? It’s good? It’s good?” until we responded with “YES! It’s fine!” And then our conversation topic changed to “I wish he would stop asking us that.” Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

Still waiting for my favorite restaurant to re-open Post K. Last visit there was simply remarkable. Had a chefs table dinner, with a different wine for each course couldn't have been better in any way. Service was impeccable. Maybe it was a slow night, but the chef seemed to be showing off his talents. We actually had to call a halt to the courses, couldn't eat one more bite - then the desserts came. Wow, probably the best overall meal of our lives. Even for the price ($150 per person including tax, tip, wine) I couldn't recommend more. Try it when they come back to life next year.

Pros: Food, food, food, service, wine

Cons: None

My wife and I were recently in our most beloved New Orleans and made our first visit to Delmonico. From the moment we arrived we were treated like guests of honor. Our waitstaff lead by Jeff was textbook perfect,This guy knows his stuff. The food was amazing,Duck Salad was phenomenal, my wife is a major Duck fan and was blown away by the Hickory Roasted Duck.My Veal Marcelle was superb,as were the sides of garlic mashed potatoes, and Brie Mac and Cheese. The Baked Alaska we shared for dessert was the single finest dessert we have ever tasted. We were so impressed we returned for lunch and dinner the next day.We vow to eat here every meal of our next stay.

Pros: Finest food in Nola , Superb waitstaff, Romantic Atmosphere

Cons: None

Dining at Delmonico's is an experience in and of itself. The ambiance is enchanting, the wine collection is amazing. We arrived early and grabbed a table in the lounge. We smoked our Djarum's and enjoyed glass after glass of wine while we listened to the live jazz and waited for our table. Two hours later, two bottles of wine later, we were nearly crying as we walked out the door. It wasn't the tab that made us weepy; it was the fact that we didn't want "it" to end. We were so incredibly full, and yet we still wanted more. Breathtaking. Emeril, you treated us well. As an aside- if you're ever in New Orlins and you want to eat at Delmonico's and they don't have an open reservation- tell them you're willing to eat in the bathroom. Yes, even they are amazing.

Pros: Customer Service, Presentation, Delivery

With it's reputation, we expected to have a nice dinner, nothing mind blowing, with good service...We had a 9pm reservation and were seated at 9:30. We were dressed appropriately but seated in the back room (must go through the kitchen). Even though we had soup and an appetizer,it took 90 minutes to get our entrees. That's too long. The food was just OK, not good. People at the next table were also complaining about the wait. It felt like we were seated in the "trainee dining room", eveything was off. We mentioned this to the dining captain who apologized and comped our entire bill. We will never go to an Emeril's establishment.

Cons: food, service

I found this place to be less than par. WAY overpriced for what you get, I could have made the same meal at home for 1/8 of the price, I know, I know, you're paying for the name mostly, but my waiters seemed to try and intimidate me, almost like I shouldn't be there. I was dressed nice, we were seated in the upstairs main dining room on the St. Charles St. side, nice ambiance, but the paint was peeling on the walls and dinner for 2 at $190 just wasn't not worth it at all in our book. Again, wish we had skipped this place and went back to K-Paul's for a second visit.

Pros: Ride on Streetcar, Fast seating w/reserv

Cons: , Servers were snooty

Emeril's recipes are always our favorites so we had to try Delmonicos. The crab cake only had flake crab meat, (no lump crab meat.) The barbeque shrimp was delicious. The fish special that came with shrimp risotto, the risotto was fabulous but the fish left a bit to be desired. The Grilled Fish of the day with Crabmeat-Shrimp Salpicon. The fish and sauce were very tasty but there was not a single piece of shrimp or crab in the Salpicon. The caramelized sugar on the creme brulee was black and tasted burned! Unlike the entree, that was taken off the bill. (We'd prefer to pay and get a good meal.) I'd suggest Emeril pay closer attention to the details because the qualities we love so much about Emeril's recipes were not part of our experience at Delmonicos.

Pros: service, wine list

Cons: , inconsistent cooking, value for quality

Delmonico surpasses all the other restaurants owned by Chef Emeril by far. Excellent service, outstanding "new" New Orleans cuisine, amazing atmosphere (elegant, but not snooty), and a great view of historic St. Charles Avenue. To eat at Delmonico is to consume New Orleans.

Pros: Excellent service, Beautiful decorum, Outstanding cuisine

Cons: It's not open 24/7

I took my boyfriend to Delmonico for his birthday while we were in NO on vacation and it was quite simply the BEST meal we had ever eaten! Beautiful restaurant, we we seated in a quiet little room upstairs by the wine celler. Our server was very attentive and every course we tried, was absolutely perfect. VERY Highly recommended!!

Pros: Romantic, Great Service, Street Car Line

Cons: None

We ate here on the Saturday after Christmas, and the meal made the trip. This was def. the best of the best. The atmosphere is very holiday and romantic, and although there were families there, this is really a place for couples or smaller parties. The Veal Marcelle was out of this world as was the Cucumber Bisque with Salmon, specially ordered from the tasting menu. We received great service, but you could tell there was a lot of running around and the bigger party next to us was a little disappointed. The Bananas Foster was excellent, but because of the full house, they prepared it away from our table.

Pros: Romantic, On Trolley Line, Valet Parking

Editor's Review

Emeril's update of an old-school St. Charles steakhouse combines stately tradition with distinctly modern touches.  See the full editorial review.
