A response to the below review from Marcia B.

Mr + Mrs Barton, I'm sorry for what happened and our lack of communication. We did not explain the purchase process or the original quote adequately. We find and sell specific vehicles for customers every day, and could have in your case when you met with Garett. We did not have an opportunity to discuss your options with you and your wife before you left. Garett and I would have loved to do that. I understand your time and patience were low because of outside circumstances, and I'm sorry we did not handle it correctly when you arrived.

The original Tacoma was available at the quoted price, or we had different vehicles in stock, available as well. One of your email communications with us, Mr. Barton described the equipment and price that he wanted, and ended with this line:

"Let me know what you can find, thanks, Chet"

There was no bait and switch involved. You came to us because we had the best price, and we were ready and willing to complete the deal at the numbers we offered.

Communication issues in a business transaction happen, and with time and patience they can always be resolved. You certainly have the option to take your business elsewhere and express your displeasure.

You don't know Garett or myself personally, and certainly did not take the time to let us work out the problem at hand. With a few more minutes, I'm sure we could have helped you join the thousands of customers Garett and I have satisfied in our combined 29 years at Lakeside Toyota.

TERRIBLE experience. Garett Drez just flat lied to us about having a particular vehicle on the lot. On the strength of his promises, we drove the 90 minutes to New Orleans, checkbook in hand, to get it, only to be told it was NOT on the lot and never had been...and when confronted about the lie, he lied again and said he'd never said that...and then copped an attitude.

When we contacted Michael Weeks--Garett's boss--about the treatment, we got more of the same.

I can only assume that dishonesty is systemic, so I further assume that the few positive reviews I see have been bought and paid for by Lakeside. These kinds of guys perpetuate the stereotype of slimy, dishonest car salesmen, and I don't understand why Toyota allows them to work for them.

If you can't trust them when they're selling you a car, how can you trust them to service it properly?

(BTW--we took our checkbook and bought from Team Toyota in Denham Springs. We couldn't be happier with both the perfect truck AND the sales team!)

BODY SHOP. Everybody at the BODY SHOP was really personable.
