Every time I come to New Orleans, I take one of Mary's amazing tours. She has such a unique and unassuming way about what she does that makes the experience that much better. She doesn't need pirate or vampire garb to make her point, she just knows her stuff and is absolutely generous with that information and her time. This time around I took 2 of her tours (1 of which i took before). I was visiting with a friend and wanted him to experience it too. Not only do we get to walk through 2 cemeteries at night, but we got to experience a voodoo ritual an photograph plenty of orbs.
if you want the real deal and to not have the feeling of being on a "tour", Bloody Mary is where you need to go. She is a lovely woman and has such a wealth of knowledge. Mi that with the utmost respect for the deceased and you will be left with wanting more.
Her tours are NOT to be missed. And hey, If you want to get married, she can do that too!!
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!
This is a total scam. We spent over $350 on 2 different tours during Halloween. We spent months planning this trip and we were looking forward to the tours the most. What a disappointment! Our tour guide, Gina, sounded like she was reading a script and was totally fake. The Voodoo Temple was in her cob webbed house. Who takes strangers to their house?!?!? And the Pub Crawl which boasted of visiting 5-6 haunted bars was more of a history lesson on prostitution! I cannot stress enough...DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!
Our private honeymoon tour was amazing!! Had so much fun!! Can't wait for all the pictures!!!
Such a great time!!! I have taken two tours with Bloody Mary and they both were awesome!
Haunted Pub Crawl Tour ($25 per person):
Matt was a GREAT tour guide!! Very knowledgeable, well-spoken and interesting. I really liked that he didn't push his beliefs in voodoo or ghosts onto us. He just talked to us about his beliefs. Despite Tropical Storm Lee, he made it all the way out to our tour even though our group was the only one that had not canceled. The tour lasted for three hours and we heard so many interesting stories!! What a great way to start off our trip in New Orleans. I highly recommend it especially at the beginning of your trip!
After doing some research on ghost tours, we came across Bloody Mary's and were pleased with our choice! Mary is generous with her time, extremely knowledgeable and funny.
Unlike most tours which seem to charge $20 for a half hour or hour tour, Mary takes you on a two hour tour! She does her due diligence in "opening the door" to the spirits and welcomes them with liquor, candy, and cash. I guess ghosts need incentive to visit and tag along on the tour. She meets you at Lafittes (oldest running bar in the country) and then leads you to the voodoo museum, Madame LaLaure's haunted mansion, and in and around the French Quarter, remembering to point out fun facts such as where Brangelina's local house is. She tells tales of murders, vampires, and sad love stories. At the end of the tour, she remembers to "close the door" so we aren't followed by hitchhiker spirits.
If you're ever in NOLA, don't go elsewhere. Join Mary on her tour!
Let's start out with booking, I was having some issues. I called the number on the site, and Mary herself talked to me. She was actually on vacation, but still took the time to discuss my reservation and get everything squared away. That, in my book, made the tour already better than some of the other ones I'd booked. The night for our tour arrived - we were doing the Ghost Town tour that met at Lafitte's. The tour was roughly 3 and a half hours - don't let the time scare you off, it was worth every second, and not a moment was wasted.
Our tour guide, Gina, is in the process of becoming my new best friend. She doesn't know it yet, but I adored her, and she was not only knowledgeable, but sweet, incredibly funny, and actively ensured that everyone felt that they were part of the tour. We visited an authentic voodoo site - not some cheesy French Quarter shop like some of the other tours (cough cough Haunted History Voodoo Tour cough cough) will take you to, but this site was actually at Bloody Mary's home. Let me re-emphasize this - this was like going to a "voodoo church" and was very special. The equivalent would be like being invited into someone's home to worship with them, and it was very touching, very sweet, and very beautiful. Again, unlike other tours, we were allowed to take as many photos as we wanted and ask as many questions as we wanted.
Gina drove us to a few cemeteries - at some of them we got out (at night!) and walked around, and at some, we just pulled up and she told us stories about them. The stories ranged from spooky to ghostly to touching. I cannot say enough positive things about this tour - I really connected with the tour guide, and had an outstanding time. I'd avoid many of the other "haunted" tours, and pay the extra dollars for a tour with Bloody Mary's group. They are the real deal, and when you imagine a "haunted tour," this is what you're thinking of and hoping for. Thank you, Mary and Gina, for a memorable and exciting experience.
I treated three teenage girls and my son to a haunted tour of the cemeteries with Bloody Mary. We were with a group of about ten. We really enjoyed the history of the many different cemeteries in the area. Very informative. When I made the reservation I talked to Bloody Mary myself. She is very nice and believe me when she tells you to wear tennis shoes and blue jeans, make sure you do...some of the cemeteries can be a little muddy after a good rain and the mosquitos will just about carry you away. I of course did as she recommended but the teenagers wore shorts and ended up with lots of bites. My favorite cemetery was the one where most of the 'common folks' are buried....nothing like the beautiful ones that you notice while in New Orleans. It wasn't well kept at all (uncut grass, disorderly in every way) but had a very unique quality to it. The teenage girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves....couldn't stop talking about all the things they learned and saw.
She was probably one of the best experiences we had in New Orleans, so informative about the culture, so passionate about the history and knows how to wow a crowd.
We liked her so much we took about 3 of her tours. Looking forward to each and every one as we went.
The night time tour of the undead is by far the best.
