More than 1,500 species from rare white alligators and white tigers to sea lions entertain and educate families year-round..
Overview
Elaborate permanent exhibitions add to the zoo's international feel and visitor-friendly layout, from the Louisiana Swamp exhibit's muggy boardwalk to the Mayan Ruins and archeological dig site in the Jaguar Jungle. It takes about three hours to see all of the animals in this well-kept zoo. If you prefer, a tram runs to each exhibit.
The Experience
The zoo has two extremely rare, white alligators found in Louisiana swamps. The alligator feeding time always draws a crowd to the Louisiana Swamp Exhibit. Other draws are the Kimoni dragon's lair, the primate center that includes orangutans, marmosets, lemurs and siamangs, and the African Savanna exhibit with Southern white rhinos. Take the obligatory tumble down the 30-foot Monkey Hill, the highest point in New Orleans, or walk with the animals in the petting area and learn more about them during narrated feedings.

Animals Amongst Us.
I think the Zoo is perhaps the best zoo I have ever visited. The animals seem happy. It is a great outing for children and the boat ride over even better. Although I reccommend taking the trolley back rather than the boat because with the trolley you are able to catch glimpses of the Garden District which is also a nice attraction.

Simply the best.
Of al the zoos I've seen the Audobon is the best. A fantastic variety of animals and the most attractive grounds. It's a nice place to just take a walk.

Classic, nothing better!.
While it has been a while since I have lived in New Orleans, I do implore everyone to visit this zoo! A great combination of older city charm and ever-changing progress, I visit this zoo every time I go to New Orleans & there is always something new! A little bit high priced, but that is with everything "tourist-ty" in New Orleans...So take a leisurely stroll through the Orient, go get a small snoball at the stand by Monkey Hill, have a seat on "the Fly" and forget about all your worries for a day!

BEST family outing in the entire city!.
One of the best family destinations in the entire metro area. Highly recommend taking the Zoo Cruise which goes to the zoo then on a riverboat cruise that stops at the Aquarium. Absolutely fantastic.

Open Air Enjoyment.
Audubon Zoo is still the best inexpensive attraction
in New Orleans. Families are everywhere, and
there are plenty of refreshments on a hot day.
We always enjoy walking the trails....There's lots
to see.
