me and my boyfriend came in for a couple massage last month and I MUST say it was the best massage I have ever received . My boyfriend enjoyed his massage too. I would definetly recommend this place to anyone looking for a massage tailored to them. My massage therapist name was tanisha and she hit every muscle just right. I like most that she check in with me and asked before massage begin areas of focus . I've been places before when they just put you in a room and do whatever is apart of their routine. Katy was my guys therapist and he said she was good too!
Riverside Spa is under new owner/management since March 2010. As of March 2010, the spa has been under new management/owner, so the reviews posted before then are not accurate of how the spa is currently run.
Pedicure IS TERRIBLE. I was on a vacation with my husband in new orleans. i went and get a pedicure done here and it was my worst pedicure the cuticles wasn't remove nails wasn't file strength and my polish was terrible. The guy who give me a pedicure seem to do everything i bets he don't do nails. and oh my god the lady sit nice to me i guess it was one the employee she keep talk and talk talk wait she doing the client pedicure i can't relex. Will NOT GO THERE EVER
Small but nice and clean... I was down in new orleans it sure hard to find a nail salon. I got a manicure pedicure done it was nice at least there didn't rush like other salon.they often me drink champan all the girl was nice.the price was $40 for pedicure and like $20 for manicure little high than most nail salon outside but at the asian nail salon you get what you pay for and it cost $25-$30 dollars already. and you know when you in the tourist center everything is a little bit high. the price is everywhere down here. I heard that massage girl was all good.
To client on 5/23/08.
What day did you go that thursday or friday? Where you a tourist? I'm a regular client and I get my full sets done there. Was it a rush job or did they take there time. Was it doen in 45 minutes or an hour. Were you referred by a hotel? I normally go Monday or Wednesday.
Did you pay before the polish or did you dry under the dryer
Worst manicure/pedicure I have ever had.
This was without a doubt the worst manicure and pedicure I have ever paid for AND, by the way, the most expensive. Nails were shaped unevenly, cuticles were not completely removed, hang nails were not removed correctly, polish was applied sloppily and within hours of leaving the salon, one would have thought it had been three weeks since my last treatment. If I had had my reading glasses with me and could have seen the job they did, I would have either not paid or demanded that they re-do their work on the spot.
BTW, while I was there, a gentleman absolutely raved about their massage therapist. Perhaps new customers to stick to that service and skip them for nail work.
So-So.
I was nervous as on my way once I learned that this spa is not in the best of neighborhoods. I was warned it may just be a nail spa. And mostly it was. I got a 60 minute massage that was average, but better than I had thought it would be. I also got a pedicure which was nice, with a warm towel, leg and foot massage. My friend had a massage that was not great. Very superficial. And a facial. They do not have a facialist on hand, instead they call her in appointment to appointment. The facial was good too, but this was a first for my friend so she had nothing to compare it to.
The overall ambiance was not great. It is definetley a nail salon. You go upstairs for the massage treatments. The massage therapists seemed a bit inexperienced, but mine was overall wonderful. She seemed to be able to find all of my sore and uncomfortable areas. I'm not sure I'd recommend it as the "great" place to go in New Orleans, but it wasn't the worst.

Luxury spas can't beat true talent. A hot stone massage at the Riverside by Rita was one of the best massage treatments I've ever experienced. The Riverside is small, not fancy but clean and can claim true talent and that "feel" a good therapist will have. With many massage experiences to compare all over the country this was one of the best - and though no longer practicing - I am a Licensed Massage Therapist -
