I had the Seafood Portofino which was an excellent value, my wife had fired calamari, both were great. For our entree I had the trout a la bayou lafourche which was very fresh and cooked to perfection, my wife had the Crabmeat Raviolli which was made with fresh pasta, she didn't go crazy over it but I thought it was good. For desert I had the Cheesecake which was made from scratch and quite heavy but good and my wife had the bread pudding which was not even close to best i've ever had. Service was great, the Chef cam out to visit our table and introduce himself. Out total Bill was $110 with no alcohol, we do not drink, including tip which I thought was very reasonable.
service was excellent. The wine list appeals to every person. The red snapper crazywater is my favorite dish. When Chef Andrea says the fish come swimming to his door, he really means it. The pasta is fresh & the ambiance is very romantic. I would have to say Andrea's is my favorite restaurant in the city. I also hosted a private dinner for family & friends. I highly reccomend the banquet facilities to everyone.
great experience. I highly recommend this restaurant. I had a dish called Chicken Michelangelo and my wife had something called Ciopinno. Both dishes were unique. The atmosphere was fun oriented and the service was great. Thank you guys for a great job.!
Avoid Andrea's. My dining experience at Andrea's was terrible! When the waitstaff finally showed up, they were not very polite. The food took forever to come out, when it did, it was cold, and further more, I kid you not, tasted like it had SAND in it. It was absolutely one the worst restaurant experiences I've had in New Orleans, and it's a crime to spend money at Andrea's (particularly post-Katrina dollars) when there are other much better Italian restaurants(like Vincent's, for example). I highly recommend going somewhere else.
Best Loved Restaurant?????. I took my sister who was from out of town to Andrea's for lunch. The place was so stuffy like grandma's closet. Everyone in there was over 50 wearing suits and ties. The service was slow and astonishingly horrid. The food was average....I'm being generous here. My pasta was too salty and my sister's pasta was more like a soup. We left feeling like we were robbed in daylight. I was so embarrassed to take her there. I kept bragging how wonderful the restaurants in New Orleans were. Word to the masses.....I would recommend Irene's and 1179 for good Italian food and friendly down to earth service.
One of the best-loved restaurants--Italian or otherwise--in the burbs..
The Scene
Andrea's has filled a niche since opening in 1985 as a place to get top-notch cuisine without having to head into Uptown or the French Quarter. Nestled in a neighborhood mixed with homes and small businesses, Andrea's ranch-style brick edifice looks more like a residence than a restaurant. The lunch crowd is filled with professionals; at night, the eatery is a favorite of local families and couples. Tuxedoed waiters help translate the Italian menu, and colorful chef-owner Andrea Apuzzo often personally visits with diners.
The Food
North Italian specialties infused with savory ingredients like fresh seafood. Start with the white bean soup or mussels in a zesty tomato broth. The angel hair and salmon entree is over the top, tossed with a vodka-cream sauce and finished with caviar. Cap your meal perfectly with the soffiato di cioccolato bianco, a white chocolate delight.
Great Italian food. Pastas are great! Starters are the best in the city. Fresh and crusty Italian bread. Veal spectacular.
Great Food, Great Chef!. Andreas Restaurant is a great place for a nice dinner. Chef Andrea is so personable, and creates wonderful delectable cuisine.
