The strongly beating heart of the local visual and performing arts scene.. The Scene
Housed in 10,000 open-beamed square feet of renovated warehouse space, the colossal Contemporary Arts Center features dozens of multi-disciplined exhibits each year. It is the epicenter and main host of the wildly popular annual arts kickoff, Art for Arts' Sake, as well as perennial not-to-be-missed events such as the Funky Butt Bash, Absolut New Orleans and White Linen Night. A cyber cafe adjacent to the exhibit space is the perfect place to stop, sip an iced mocha and surf the Internet free of charge on one of six computers.

The Collection
The granddaddy of the contemporary arts scene in New Orleans, the CAC has no permanent collection; instead, it rotates mostly avant-garde and experimental exhibits through four immense ground-floor galleries. CAC invites international, national and locally acclaimed artists to show everything from fine photography and graphic arts to flags, sculpture and glassworks. In addition, two live stages offer contemporary theater, performance art, dance and occasional music events.
