TOTAL RIP-OFF!! – I can't believe no review has mentioned what a total rip-off this place is. Their frames are marked up by at least 200% and then with all the add-ons the price is totally out of line. Service sucks too. No one seem to be happy to be there except Glazier who is smiling as he is stuffing his pockets with your money! They use some questionable practices when milking VSP (insurance) as well. It seems reasonable to them to charge you full price for frames rather then "their" price if you're insured. The only good review here had to be written by them! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!
Great Experience – I love when I come to St. Charles Vision. I always get the best service. Val, I'm sorry i don't know her last name, and Chris were so helpful and took the time to find me the perfect pair of glasses, helping me pair by pair. This is honestly the best customer service I have had purchasing glasses. Go to the store on St. Charles and Carrolton, you will not be disappointed.
Do not patronize this business – As if it's necessary, considering the other reviews, here's yet another reason not to patronize this place: My web browser has been repeatedly hijacked by full page pop up ads, covering the screen, from this place. Apparently this hijacking is based on IP address, so if you're in the New Orleans area it could happen to you as well. It's been some time since I've experienced this kind of internet hijacking. With the mentality of this place (see other reviews on customer service), they actually seem to imagine that this kind of behavior will bring in more customers! Stay away!
My name is Matthew Rosenthal and I am the Director of Marketing for St. Charles Vision. I would first like to apologize for any inconvenience that the situation you described may have caused you, but also assure you that we do not, nor ever have. engaged in any intentional "internet hijacking". While some of the interactive advertising we employ does target viewers from the greater New Orleans Area, all of our ads are served through legitimate channels and trusted content providers.
If our ads were part of any pop-up attack you may have experienced on your system, I'd like to offer a sincere apology and the assurance that we do not intentionally engage in this type of behavior. If you have any concerns, you can contact me directly at mrosenthal (at) stcharlesvision (dot) com. Additionally, if there is anyone else who has experienced a malicious attack that employs any of our ads or marketing material, please do not hesitate to drop me a line.
HORRIBLE ALL AROUND – Rude employees and frankly do not know how to meet any deadlines. Arrogant Doctors. Will never recommend. I elected to use St. Charles vision out of convenience and close proximity to my office but this is no reason to EVER go there again.
Curt and Apathetic Staff – I went to St. Charles Vision only to pick out a pair of glasses. When I visited the St. Charles Ave. store, I had just had an eye exam with another optometrist, so I can't speak of the quality of care one might receive from Dr. Glaser or Dr. Leach. However, the apathy of the staff is certainly a poor reflection of the business as a whole.
Before I went to the store, I called to ask some questions. My questions were answered, though very curtly, so I already suspected the staff wasn't necessarily friendly. But maybe the woman I spoke to was very busy, or was having a bad day, whatever. So I was willing to give St. Charles Vision the benefit of the doubt and went over to look at frames.
Although there were several customers in the office when I walked in the door, two women who weren't assisting anyone looked right at me, but said nothing. Ok.
So maybe they soft sell. "It'll be nice to take my time and look without having someone breathing down my neck," I thought. Though I don't know what the procedure would be if I'd actually had an appointment. But, again... benefit of the doubt.
I scanned the frame selection carefully, trying on several pairs. All told, I was there for about ten minutes. In those ten minutes I found a pair of glasses I really liked and would have purchased. But because I wasn't once approached by the staff, despite their making eye contact with me several times, I took note of the frames I wanted and left to purchase them elsewhere.
I would say that this experience was akin to going to The Soup Na*i (*z - Citysearch censored), but at least he takes your order.
I DEFINITELY WAS NOT PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE I (DIDN'T) RECEIVED FROM THIS OFFICE. WHEN I WALKED IN THE DOOR I WAS NEVER GREETED AND THERE WAS ONLY ONE OTHER CUSTOMER THERE (WHO ALSO WASN'T RECEIVING ANY SERVICE) BUT THERE WERE 3 EMPLOYESS WORKING. THEY WERE ALL TALKING AND LAUGHING AMONGST THEMSELVES AND NEVER SAID A WORD TO ME. I KNOW THEY KNEW I WAS THERE BECAUSE THEY EACH MADE EYE CONTACT WITH ME DURING THE TIME I WAS THERE BUT NEVER EVEN SAID HELLO OR EVEN SMILED. I WAS HOPING TO GIVE THEM THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT WITH HOPES THAT THE REPUTATION OF THEM GIVING HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS JUST A RUMOR. SHOULD I HAVE FELT PRIVLEDGED TO BE THERE INSTEAD OF ME BEING A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER FOR THEM? I WAITED AND WAITED UNTIL I JUST COULDN'T WAIT ANYMORE. I GUESS THERE IS TRUTH IS SOME RUMORS. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED AND WILL NOT RETURN.
