BEST RESTAURANT IN NEW ORLEANS

by doorboy at Citysearch

LOVE THIS RESTAURANT. I do not eat red meat at any restaurant other than LA BOCA! Quality of beef, always excellent. My choice is always the Kobe tenderloin. Noqui is the best I've ever had. Crabmeat ravioli may make you cry happy tears. Salads large and always cold and fresh. Great Argentine wines. The staff, including Chef Jared, GM Orestes, and the entire wait crew work as a team to make sure that their customers have an excellent dinner. We always feel welcomed and appreciated whenever we visit LA BOCA!!

  • Pros: FOOD, SERVICE, MANAGEMENT = EXCELLENT
  • Cons: Everything good

good food, terrible service

by mdelvecchio at Citysearch

i dined w/ a party of 4, we had cocktails, 1 bottle of wine & 1 cork fee ($15!), 2 apps, 4 entrees, 2 sides, 1 dessert. however, my american kobe steak was overcooked. i asked for it like the photo (very red), the waitress incorrectly said that was probably Medium. i said it must be at least medium rare, so we went w/ that. a friend ordered the same. got the steaks -- friends was perfect; mine had practically no pink to it, very brown meat. i flagged her down and said i was sorry but i had to send it back. she told me it didnt look overdone to her. i persisted, so she brought it back. later the manager came out, said he didnt think it was overcooked, but he brought it back. then AGAIN he came out, and said the chef, their expert, said it wasnt. at this point i was angered and said ive been ordering medium rare steaks my whole life, and "Why are we even having this conversation? Are you hoping to convince me to take it back? If that's your medium then serve me rare." my friends nearly finished by the time they brought me another, quite rare as it was cool to the touch. we finished the meal, and they didnt comp a damn thing -- not even the $15 cork fee. lame. not going back, which is a shame.

  • Pros: good meat, apps
  • Cons: ala cart, no reservations, unprofessional service
