worst venue in new orleans. this is the worst venue in new orleans. the people who go here are idiot guidos who drive down from baton rouge. they wait in line to go to shows without even knowing who the band is. the bar still makes people wait in line so that it looks 'cool' even though people could enter if things were run efficiently. waiting in line for a concert then realizing that the crowd is a bunch of idiots then not even being able to move because they oversold the show is not my idea of a good time.

if you are an indie band PLEASE go somewhere else. this venue is HORRIBLE. best way to ruin a night.

Downhill Slide. Republic used to have the in crowd for sometime when they opened post Katrina, capturing the former "Metro" crowd. For some reason, this place has followed the standard nightclub lifeline and now caters to young kids and minority based patrons. I understand how this might sound, but if I wanted to go to a Vietnamese club, an African American club, or even a sock hop, I would go to one of these places. I used to be a weekly regular, but have since stopped going. Republic wonders as to why they get robbed at gunpoint while they are still open on a Saturday night. To be fair, we are in a recession and I guess the owners will do whatever they must to keep the doors open - just please keep the patrons that still attend safe is all I ask.

Editorial Review by Gerrish Lopez. Warehouse District nightclub attracts top rock acts, hosts DJ and theme nights, and is a great spot for private events.

Most Exclusive place NOLA has ever seen!. If you want a club where everybody who shows up can get in then Republic New Orleans is not for you. They do indeed have a policy that must be adhered to to be allowed inside. Just as it is in every other major club city like Vegas, NY, Miami, etc. they will not let big groups of guys in without being accompanied by girls and they often do hold the line so that the room is never uncomfortably packed. This also assures that there is always an amazing clientele. This place has the friendliest staff of servers and security that I've ever seen in New Orleans. Nothing like Bourbon Street or even another warehouse district place that I frequent. Personally I've seen celebs like Vince Vaughan, Eva Longoria, Macy Gray, Lil John, just to name a few. This is the first place I'll try out when I have friends or family in from out of town since the staff really shows folks what New Orleans hospitality is all about! Keep it up Republic!

Thursday and Saturday nights are okay.. Decent hip-hop music, $7 on Thursday or $10 on Saturday cover, $5 average drink, BUT stupid bouncers. 21 for guys and 19 for girls.

I don't know if it is the manager's idea or the bouncers way to earn some extra money, but the bouncers hold the lines outside trying to act like the club looks packed. Then when you finally get in waiting about 30 to 40 minutes with some girls who are freezing or soaking wet in the rain, you see that the club is really not that busy.

Bottom line: Decent club with bad bouncers or policy. I would not go just because of the bad bouncers.
