This namesake chain of prolific Louisiana restaurateur Al Copeland has spread quickly since its 1983 opening. The Southern-charmed interior is a plantation setting with rich wood trim against warm-colored walls. Office mates stop in for quick lunches, but families take advantage of the reasonably priced kids menu at dinner. Copeland's wide-ranging menu has traditional fare like hamburgers and chicken melts, but is known for Creole and Cajun dishes such as eggplant pirogue and blackened chicken.

I went here in a recent trip and had a great meal, the waiters were brilliant and the ambiance was great, definately recommend it to anyone wanting a great night out.. PROS: CONS:

This restaurant has the best crab cakes you can find anywhere---On the lunch menu you get one and on the evening meal menu you get two---they serve them with pasta and a salad---if you go don't miss this one---every year in the month of December they give you a $25.00 gift certificates free if you buy $100.00 in gift certificates

Copelands does have good food but the atmosphere is not handicapped friendly. First the pathway to the TWO handicapped tables that MAY or MAY NOT be available because able-bodied people have been seated there is too narrow. Second, more tables should made available for the wheelchair user. If it costs too much to add more handicapped tables then they should have all the tables at the height of the handicapped tables. This way handicapped people wouldn't be limited to seating and no one would have to wait. Staff seems to send a message that serving the disabled is a bother. A few times they have ignored me on purpose until I make my presence known. Not handicapped accessible in the bar area. Violates ADA.
