Editorial Review for Aidan Gill for Men – by Jessica Mesman

The Scene
Infuriated by so-called "unisex" salons that emasculate male clientele with feminine frills, Dublin native and London retail vet Aidan Gill opened his art deco doors to guys who want to be pampered like proper gentleman. The store houses an old-fashioned English barbershop that offers full barbering services, including hot-towel shaves and glasses of Jameson Irish whiskey.

The Services
You'll recognize the expert staff by their dapper attire. These impeccably groomed guys in suspenders and bow ties will explain what makes a high-quality shave brush so expensive. Passers-by stop in to check the museum quality barbershop artifacts and the city's coolest collection of ties. The refined shop here for tubs of delicately scented European shave lotions.

The Extras

For a boy's first haircut, ask for the "heirloom" package. Photographer David Spielman will document the occasion, and the shop will frame the photo along with the first shorn locks.

While the service is quite pleasant here, the "barbers" skills are below average. I use quotes because despite all these claims about being "a place for men" - you still get your hair cut by a women who would be at home in a Supercuts at a Metairie mall. HIRE SOME REAL BARBERS WHO CAN CUT HAIR! I am more than willing to pay $35 (and gladly even more) for a good haircut, but if I am going to walk out of there looking as if I just paid $15 at Supercuts, what's the point.

Pros: pleasant service

Cons: bad haircuts for a high price

But - do they cut good hair? I went to the Golden Shears on Magazine and the older gentelmen who I now think may be senile gave me the most ridiculous 'haircut' that I am embassased to got outside let alone got to work. Can Aidian help me?
