Might as well burn your money ... – This store is the worst ever! I went in to pick up a few items for my fiance for our anniversary. To say the clerk was a novice, is putting it nicely; the selection was low quality and no variety; and the owner was rude to me after my friend and I dropped $200 on products.
If I didn't have to make a flight, I would have returned it all.
They suck and the owner has no class. Don't give them your money.
Machete Shave – Be careful with the shave...gave it a second chance after a tough experience...same rough results.
Seriously, the only place to go for a haircut, a shave, shaving supplies and the like. – This store works on so many levels and provides such a satisfying experience that you'll notice when you travel various new stores in other cities have tried to copy Mr. Gill's success. Don't be fooled. There is a reason this store has been written up so favorably in so many national magazines. For a truly relaxing experience, the hot towel shave can't be beat. I started going to the shop when I lived in New Orleans, and since Katrina drive into town to get my haircut, my shaving supplies and soaps. It truly is a terrific place and one that has to be experienced.
Bad haircuts – While the service is quite pleasant here, the "barbers" skills are below average. I use quotes because despite all these claims about being "a place for men" - you still get your hair cut by a women who would be at home in a Supercuts at a Metairie mall. HIRE SOME REAL BARBERS WHO CAN CUT HAIR! I am more than willing to pay $35 (and gladly even more) for a good haircut, but if I am going to walk out of there looking as if I just paid $15 at Supercuts, what's the point.
a question not a review – But - do they cut good hair? I went to the Golden Shears on Magazine and the older gentelmen who I now think may be senile gave me the most ridiculous 'haircut' that I am embassased to got outside let alone got to work. Can Aidian help me?

Avoid patronizing this over-rated excuse for a business – This place is a disgrace. They lack respect toward any customers. I booked two shaves over a week in advance for my brother and I on his wedding day. The person answering the phone was very rude, not helpful with short responses, and the booking process was extremely cumbersome. For an undisclosed reason, pre-payment was required up front for a $35 service. My brother and I arrived 15 minutes late for our appointment due to atrocious construction traffic in Uptown New Orleans. I told the booker this was for my brothers wedding day, but they still refused to accommodate us upon arrival and told us they would not give us a shave (a 30 minute process). This was at 3:15 on a Friday afternoon with no customers in sight. Furthermore, they charged me for both shaves even though they did not provide the service! Their snide remark was "It would not be fair to you to do only half the service.". In reality, they did not want to provide the service. I informed the booker that I live in NYC so rescheduling was not a realistic option. If refusing service is a policy, they should inform people upon booking. Often, people will run late due to forces outside their control. Aidan Gill assumes it can unfairly charge people for services not rendered and disregard customer service. I will never patronize this sad excuse for a business and telling everyone I know to do the same. The employees are extremely pretentious. They saw two younger men and assumed we did not meet the economic profile of their clientele, but they were wrong on that one and very rude. UPDATE: Spoke to the owner, Aidan Gill, and the apple does not fall far from the tree. He verbally assaulted me, used unrequited profanity, insulted my intelligence, and showed complete contempt for customers who complain. He offered no way to resolve this situation which only solidfies my previous claims. Aiden Gill and this place are a disgrace to legitimate New Orleans businesses and southern hospitality. Please avoid.
great customer service. – Great place to get a haircut and/or shave.
Boys-only salon reviving the forgotten art of barbering. – The Scene
Infuriated by so-called "unisex" salons that emasculate male clientele with feminine frills, Dublin native and London retail vet Aidan Gill opened his art deco doors to guys who want to be pampered like proper gentleman. The store houses an old-fashioned English barbershop that offers full barbering services, including hot-towel shaves and glasses of Jameson Irish whiskey.
You'll recognize the expert staff by their dapper attire. These impeccably groomed guys in suspenders and bow ties will explain what makes a high-quality shave brush so expensive. Passers-by stop in to check the museum quality barbershop artifacts and the city's coolest collection of ties. The refined shop here for tubs of delicately scented European shave lotions.
