A Garden District favorite..
The Scene
The namesake of this hotel is the late, locally famous architect Thomas Sully--he designed this antebellum Queen Anne-style abode in 1890. It still contains some original stained glass windows and ceiling medallions. History buffs and romantics will feel at home immediately upon entering the ornate iron gate and stepping up to the grand porch.
The Details
Five pristine rooms and two suites are filled with gorgeous furnishings. The St. Charles Suite alone boasts silk drapes, a Belle epoque armoire, two overstuffed loveseats, a Chinese antique side table, a Bombay dresser and a four-poster mahogany carved bed. All rooms contain such niceties as down pillows and wireless Internet access. The Garden District, uptown, downtown and the French Quarter are all easily accessible, either by foot or by streetcar. It is a three-minute walk to the renowned Commander's Palace restaurant.
