BEST CRAFT BEER IN THE CITY. Located on St. Charles on the parade route. clientele is a mix of neighorhood friends, service industry, and beer enthusiasts. Before the storm it was just a local dive...how times have changed!!! They've opened the balcony and added a bar, added seating on the balcony and back patio. Bartenders know their beer and it's open 24/7!!! Food has vastly improved with the addition of J'Anitas. Great place to hang with friends, and they do beer tastings every Wed on the balcony. A true pub...simply said

Terrible service late night. The bartender late night, Jim, is so bad you would rather eat your arm and he overcharges, he iffers shots and then adds them to your tab.

The really are open 24/7. When Hurricane Georges took aim at NOLA, we decided to stay in town and ride it out (based on the advice of the legendary weather guy Nash Roberts). Power went out in our building around 11, and we went to The Avenue Pub. Not only were they open, but the bartender told us they *can't* close; they don't even have locks on the doors. If they flooded, the plan was to move the party upstairs. We stayed all night, watched the sun rise over a calm and empty city, and had great burgers and fries to greet the day. As they were the only game in town for a few days, we ate there until they ran out of food.

Based on this experience alone, I love this place. Yes, it's a dive. Yes, it's seedy. But it's also got a New Orleans attitude. We used to love sitting by the big windows watching the street cars roll by. It's usually a mix of locals and young folks.

Editorial Review. Neighborhood tavern attracts diverse crowd with cheap drinks, a few pool tables and an old-school jukebox.

Very good service by attentive bartenders. A great neighborhood bar! Great drinks at fair prices.. A very fun neighborhood bar in the Lower Garden District. I've found it to be a very good place to meet lots of fun and attractive women between 10:00P.M. and 3:00A.M. A fairly extensive bar menu to fullfill those late night food cravings or anytime. In addition, despite what I've read in other reviews of this bar and the neighborhood, I've always found this bar to be in a great area and quite safe. A fine place to hang out for the next hurricane party or anytime...a strong old building. Enjoy!
