Editorial Review for Parasol's – by Pableaux Johnson

In Short
Dingy, dicey and a little bit dirty: This Irish Channel barroom is the classic neighborhood dive. During its infamous St. Patrick's Day celebrations, this bar floats in a flood tide of emerald beer as the starting point of New Orleans' boozy St. Paddy's parade--Mardi Gras with a coat of green Krylon. Its renowned roast beef po'boys aer greasy and garlicky; the rest of the bar food menu provides welcome ballast during televised Saints games.

Insider Tips

When to Go

Its St. Patrick's Day bash is huge. It takes place throughout the entire day. The block gets crowded fast, so go early for your green beer.

We just moved out of the Irish Channel and the one thing we will miss most is Parasol's. Whenever we were hungry and didn't feel like cooking, we'd just walk down and get some po'boys. The best shrimp and roast beef. Great place to watch Saints games. We'll miss it. Our new neighborhood bar is Pal's Lounge. I hope it's as welcoming.

Pros: Friendly patrons

Cons: dirty, small, but the best food comes from places like that

This is the place where I met all of my friends in NOLA, where I watched the RedSox win the series, where I consumed the BEST roast beef po boys night after night, where I drank guinness, where I had fun. After moving away from New Orleans, the one thing that I miss with all my heart is the greatness of P'Sols. If you live in New Orleans and have not yet been, you don't know what you are missing. If you plan on visiting new orleans as a tourist, do yourself a favor and get out of the quarter and get to the Irish Channel for a real bar. Oh yeah, this place is small, not so clean, but oh so fun....

Pros: Great staff!

Cons: small, dirty and we wouldn't want to change it....
