Classic Charm and Elegance. This is the place where your grand parants when to be seem. The food is excellent and the service prompt. You go here for the experience not the value.
Oh, God, how could it be any better?. Great wine, great bread, great Bloody Mary's, the best turtle soup anywhere. Just couldn't be better anywhere!! The service is always top class. In fact, we sent our son and his girlfriend for one of their aniversary dates and called the maitre d', Ed Krepps, and asked him to take special care of our childern. They had a delightful meal and felt very special by all the staff. This is a very classy restaurant.
Scrumptious at Brennan's. Everytime I hear a snide remark about Brennan's(lately have not heard many)it is usually from someone who has not been there in 10 to 15 years. The remark is usually targeted at the so called tourist. Please people, try to be a little more original. You people are missing one of the jewels of our city. Brennan's is known for its Breakfast, but the dinner experience does not have too many rivals. Yes there are newer restaurants that are trendy, but one that continually withstands the test of time is Brennan's! These newer restaurants will get my respect if they are still around in 10 years.
Did not live up to the "Hype". I was extremely disappointed with the food and service at Brennan's. The breakfast "prix fixe" menu left much to be desired...if you want something other than eggs you have to order a la carte which is extremely pricey. I had grillades and grits plus an appetizer and bananas foster and my individual bill was $60 without drinks, tax, or tip. The service was awful...waiter was never available, was rushed, and did not bring all of our entrees out at the same time (15 minute difference). The bill was presented before we had even been served our dessert. The food was good but I think it's worth the price.
Once in a Lifetime.... I'm a local and I agree with the person who said, "you only live once." Definitely get the steak with eggs benedict, or get the prefix menu if you're on a budget (actually if you're on a budget wait til you can afford to go all out). I wouldn't give Brennan's a 10 overall, but the service is a 10, and the food varies from 7 to 10. My first time I visited I couldn't afford it and I probably would have given it a lower rating. Now that I'm more established, I think it was worth the money my second visit.
Yuck! Go elsewhere! Awful..
My friends and I were thrilled to get into Brennan's. After all, we read all the great reviews and looked forward to a genuine New Orleans dining experiences.
Instead, we got a terrible meal - nothing special. My "redfish with crabmeat jamie" was overcooked and rubbery while my friend's trout pecan was so greasy the fish was ready to slip off the plate and onto the floor.
We dropped a lot of money at this place and how I wished I spent that money on beignets and poor boy sandwiches instead at 1/16th the price!
Sticker shock!. We came here for the eggs benedict. There is a fixed price breakfast for $35 and we didn't want all that food, so we opted for just eggs benedict. It came on melba toast with one small piece of canadian bacon and while the hollandaise sauce was velvety, it wasn't worth $26!! Our breakfast bill with a bloody mary, mimosa and coffee came to $135! It was too much for what you got. Go to Petunias and have a delicious eggs benedict for $10.95.
Best Ever.
I had the Absolute Pleasure of eating here one evening during Mardi Gras, and this was without a Doubt the Best Meal I have ever eaten. Everything from the soft-shell crab appetiser, to the Banana Foster for desert, was Perfectly prepared. a Lovely
resteraunt I will not soon forget
