Sweet husband was able to sweet talk a waitress into a window seat with a view of the courtyard. the breakfast was excellent. An experience I will never forget. The food was a great.
Just wanted to write a brief note about exceptional service we had yesterday, orchestrated by Gregg at brunch. His passion and knowledge of your fine establishment's history, food, and culture made for an exemplary experience...among many exemplary restaurants in this town. We look forward to coming back, and offer kudos to Gregg and Brennan's for a wonderful brunch experience!
Just wanted to thank you again for all of your help in coordinating our wedding dinner in the wine room. Everything far surpassed our expectations and was absolutely perfect. Andre, you were so easy and great with helping to plan out everything. David, the service at dinner was impeccable and you had everything set up exactly how I imagined. Thank you both so much!
Hello, my husband and I had the absolute pleasure of dining in your establishment (twice) during a recent trip to New Orleans. I just had to send a quick email to let you know how much we enjoyed the food, and to also compliment you on your amazing staff. We had the good fortune to be taken care of by (and I apologize if I get any names wrong here) Oreste, Kenya, Patti and Kevin, among others. They were all flawless. Welcoming, friendly, and beyond efficient. I can not say enough good things about them so I wanted to let you know how much they enhanced our visit. We spent 8 days in your amazing city and ate at a dizzying number of fantastic restaurants, but yours was the only restaurant that we went back to a second time. My only regret is that we could not make it back for a third visit! We live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and while we have a great number of incredible restaurants close by, it saddens me to think that I will not be able to find a meal here at home like the ones I had at your establishment. You are more than a restaurant, you are a traveler's destination! I hope to visit again some day. Warmest regards.
Absolutely Terrible Way to End 2010 – Horrible!! My husband and I went with another couple for New Year's Eve and Brennan's left a horrible taste in our mouth to end 2010. Service was poor and our waiter was downright insulting, even after having management intervene. The meals took 2 hours to arrive due to the kitchen being backed up, and then it was sub par-the chicken was dry and trout oily. Total waste of money-also, if you have a visible tattoo or only order water, expect horrible treatment by the staff, at least that's what we got (thanks for the snide comment about my body art Mr. Server-yes, I did hear you as you walked by...)
Thanksgiving dinner disappointment – We were in New Orleans for Thanksgiving and went to Brennan’s on the recommendation of a friend. Next time we’ll go somewhere else. Our server, Alex, was helpful and had good recommendations; the Filet Stanley was flavorful and unique, even if it was a little overcooked for my medium-rare palate. Unfortunately, he was not able to steer us away from the disastrous Shrimp Creole. The parsley rice was alright, but that is where this dish ended. The gulf shrimp, which had not been deveined, were overcooked in a “Creole” sauce that tasted like overly starchy canned tomato sauce. After being charged for the dish that remained untouched and served lukewarm, I will not recommend this place for anyone that is looking for a good local eatery, This place is overpriced, pretentious and to put if frankly, I am disappointed .
Very dissapointed. Seems to have lost it's touch – I ate at Brennan's back in 2004 and was blown away with all of the food. I especially remember loving the oyster rockefeller and bananas foster.
Unfortunately, my experience was nowhere near the same this time around. The oyster rockefeller consists of oysters topped with some black creamy substance and then baked in the oven for a short time. That is not the way I remembered it years ago. The topping previously had tons of flavor and chunky consistency. This time around, we didn't even finish the oysters.
We ordered a filet mignon topped with a creamy cheese and sweet sauce. They steak was cooked perfectly and the cheese spread was an excellent touch, but the sweet sauce seemed out of place. A beefy sauce would have been more appropriate IMO.
The bananas foster used to be prepared tableside. Now, they often prepare 4 servings in a corner and then serve the different tables. It was also not as tasty as I remember. I've made better desserts at home.
NO NO NO! Mediocre food, horrible service, high prices‎ – My boyfriend who lived in the French Quarters for many years in the 90s raved about Brennan's and in December 08 we finally made a visit to New Orleans. We were excited to revisit many of his old favorites and they were all excellent EXCEPT Brennan's. We were seated relatively quickly, and that is where the positive experience ended. Our waiter, Alex, was too lazy to stop by every table to go over the specials, so he screamed them out...hitting 4 tables at a time. After we placed our orders, food arrived painfully slow. My seafood gumbo was warm, in a temperature perfect for bacterias to multiply and grow. We were ignored most of the meal, and when I asked Alex to check on our orders, he became defensive and said it was not his fault. I told him that I knew it was not his fault, but please check on our orders. Food was OK, I had a much better meal down the street at the Nepolean House and that cost a whole lot less. I heard that since the hurricane, good help has been hard to find, hence these yahoos who under normal circumstances should not be in a customer service role end up interacting with clients.
I would stay away from Brennan's until service improves. The prices are high and shame on them for having such poor service!
Bad night at Brennan's – My wife and i just return from a trip through the South. We spent five days in New Orleans. The last night my wife wanted to go to Brennan's. I will Never Go There Again. We were seated in an alley type room the was the runway between the kitchen and a room with a large party and the wait staff traffic made it seem as if we were on the interstate. This dispite the fact that there was an empty room adjacent to out "street". Bad management. The food was at best good but surely not worth the money. The service was terrible. Waited fifteen minutes for the first waiter to come by. There were twelve tables in this area and about ten waiter and bus staff. Then after a rather, at best, meal, when I gave our waitress two One hundred dollar travelers check for the 135.00 bill see asked if i wanted any change. There are at least ten restuarants in the Cleveland-Akron area which are head and shoulders above Brennan"s in every way. Basically I found Brennan"s to be nothing but a tourist trap.
Horrible Service – Went for dinner and just not great service. Everyone acted as if they really did not want to be at work. Then to the so called prix fixe menu... What's the point if just about everything on there costs an extra $10 to $15
