Editorial Review for Bon Ton Cafe – by Chad Kirtland

The Scene
Hometowners who know where to get good food and hotel visitors hungry for authentic local dining love this place. Brick walls and cast iron sconces create a uniquely New Orleans atmosphere. The dining room is charmingly small. The staff is professionally attentive.

The Food
Traditional Cajun creations made from the fruits of the bayou. Favorites such as crawfish étouffée, shrimp Creole and crawfish bisque are the dishes that defined this culinary genre. The crawfish dinner is an excellent way to try the many ways Bon Ton cooks this Cajun delicacy. The Bon Ton's rum Ramsey cocktail is an old-time favorite passed down through generations. One sip, and you'll understand why the recipe has remained a secret after all these years. Another closely guarded family recipe is Bon Ton's bread pudding with whiskey sauce. Saving space for this delicious dessert is a tough task but worth the effort.

Classic New Orleans, good service, decent food. WAY OVERPRICED. I'm born and raised in New Orleans and tried Bon Ton Cafe for lunch for the first time the other day. Unfortunately, I probably won't be back because of the prices. $30 for lunch is a little much, sorry. If the food was great, then I wouldn't mind; but it was just O.K..

Pros: Service, Atmosphere

Cons: Value for Price Paid, Parking
