You're in New Orleans.. Do you really want Steak?. FAR FROM THE BEST STEAK HOUSE. Dikie is your typical a la cart Steak House. The Turtle Soup was good. The Sweet Potato side was amazing. The Steaks had no life. No pop!. Nothing that made me want to dive right in. DO NOT ORDER THE MASH POTATO SIDE! Of all the things you can do to mash potatoes, ranch, sour cream, dirty mash.. THEY DO NOTHING. Just boiled mash potatoes. No salt. nothing. AVOID A STEAK HOUSE. You're in NoLa with so many local choices. Skip Dickie's
BBQ Rib-eye awesome. This is by far the best restaurant in Nola. I had the BBQ shrimp with the Ribe-eye. Worth every penny. The steak melts in your mouth. Can't wait till I come back.
Great Food. My wife and I visited this restaurant for the 1st time on a recent trip to New Orleans. We were very satisfied. From the moment we walked in, the staff was courteous and efficent. The service was 2nd to none, and the food was fantastic! I was also pleasantly suprised to find that it was not overpriced like so many other upscale restaurants. However, don't be fooled by it's location in the French Quarter just off of Bourbon Street. This is an upscale restaurant, and guests should dress accordingly. The only downfall was that we were seated in a very large, open area, and we found it to be somewhat noisy and difficlut to have a conversation. Still, we had a very pleasant experience and I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Correction - Hours of Operation. Correction to the above hours: Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse is open for dinner nightly, 5:30pm-10:00pm and is open for lunch Wednesday-Friday, 11:30am-2:30pm. Their complete menus are available online at their website.
outstanding food and service. I took two of my girlfriends to dinner tonight to celebrate one of their birthdays. Our servers Ross and Dominic made the experience a memory. The food had no comparison as was the wine that was selected for us. I would recommend Dickie's to anyone who wanted a memory to be made by the service and food.
Good anytime. I found this place on a trip to New Orleans. For dinner it can be quite romantic, although a bit crowded, but then, why wouldn't it be, the food is that good. I also stopped in for lunch there. Although that was years ago ( I don't think they serve lunch anymore). They had great specials. Another restaurant I would travel great distances to eat at.
dine anytime, dedicated staff, excellent management, outstanding kitchen staff. have eaten at DB's several times, even worked there once! recomend dining in the bar for a more casual atmosphere. The management (all of them) are there for you, the customer. They strive to exceed the expectations of not only all other restaurants in the city; but to stand above above and beyond the Brennan Family Tradition. If you could see what goes on in the kitchen, there would not be one bad review. Everyone is dedicated to producing the most quality product and presentation to our visiting extended family form anywere. Signed a New Orleans Native
Very Good Place to Go to Impress Someone. I absolutely love this restauranta; however, it is very expensive. This is definitely a restaurant where you would go on a first or second date to impress a girl but get ready to pay. The atmosphere is very romantic. The steak is probably the second best I've had in New Orleans however the entire ambience of the restaurant is very classy especially in the midst of the French Quarters. Guys, you won't be able to dine unless you are wearing at least business casual. Waiters wear white jackets and bow ties and there is also valet parking. With reservations, the time to prepare our food was not long. I would definitely go back there again.
The closest thing to granddad's invitation-only steakhouse this side of Chicago's back alleys..
The Scene
Posh, underground dining makes a comeback. The tiled floor is a classic, as are white-jacketed waiters in black bow ties. Private dining rooms add to the clubby feel, but the handsome bar -- complete with a wall-length humidor and a miniature bottle collection--welcomes all. Underdressed French Quarter tourists are the only threat to the exclusive, upscale ambience.
The Food
Don't come downstairs if you're not ready to eat meat. Dickie Brennan's serves only USDA prime beef that's seared, grilled, roasted or broiled to your liking. The tournedos sampler offers several of the restaurant's fine, house-made sauces. The blackened rib eye is a saucy, sloppy meal best fit for gluttons. A better bet is the house filet served with flash-fried oysters and bearnaise sauce. Deviants will find pork, duck and assorted seafood, but isn't that missing the point?
forget it........ poor meal. couldnt find the waiter to send my fish back.... it was WAY overcooked. my customers meal was also overcooked. i left 3/4 of my meal on the plate when the jr waiter removed our dishes. i told him how very dissapointed i was and that i still was hungry. after 15 min and no waiter.... the jr waiter gave us the dessert menus which i gave back to him. when presented with the bill, i wrote across the front of it..." you have yet to address my poor meal, lack of service and embarrassment infront of my client." i guess the head waiter asked if there was a problem... and he did nothing, no adjustment, no offers. i paid and left. Never again. Never, never again.
