Great Location!. Bordering on the CBD (Central business district) and the French Quarter, made it a great location for business & pleasure! I was able to walk to an interview and all around the Quarter. The rooms were a good size- much bigger than some of the older hotels around. The beds appeared to be quite new and were very comfortable. One small room key problem was resolved very quickly by the friendly front desk staff. Roomservice was very quick but pricey - (Domino's is only 2 blocks away & delivers just as quickly)

I went to college in NO, so I knew what I was getting into. This area of Canal St. is generally a very safe area to be in & walk around. The constant foot traffic between Harrah's, the hotels and the quarter makes it so. (Remember empty streets = not safe at night!)

Check out Remoulade's on Bourbon street for a casual meal. It shares some menu items and part of the kitchen with pricey Arnaud's right around the corner! If you like burgers--- don't miss Port of Call on Esplanade!

One of the best. I satyed at the Sheraton while in New Orleans for the Essence Music Festival. My stay was Excellent+. I would refer anyone to experience the Sheraton as I did. Keep up the good work Sheraton staff.

Incredibly poor service!. Attended a conference in July 2003. Our group was 400+ business women. We had scheduled our conference with the Sheraton more than a year in advance. My personal room was booked with a guaranteed reservation months ahead. When I arrived with four other ladies to check in, we were informed our rooms were not available. The clerk told us that a group that had checked in a few days before had decided to stay over. Consequently, they put groups of three and four women in rooms with one bed and others were moved to the Marriott Hotel. Management at the Sheraton told us our reservation only guaranteed a "room of some type" and that sleeping 3 to 4 people to a one bed room and moving others to another hotel was perfectly acceptable.

Do yourself a favor and avoid the New Orleans Sheraton and other hotels managed by Starwood group.

Sheraton on Canal. I found nothing wrong with the place, except the express check-out and viewing of your account from the t.v. didn't work, but I didn't mention it until I checked out -- wasn't a big thing. This place is newly renovated and everything was clean and new and I especially loved the big soft down pillows. They have a nice gift shop, but hotel stores always sell their stuff for a lot more - their masks went for $9.95 whereas you can find it on Bourbon St. for $3.95. The hotel has a great location, walking distance to Harrah's casino, the Riverwalk, Bourbon St., and where you catch the St. Charles trolley. If it's not a busy time of year, ask for an upgrade; we did and got one, that made us like the place more.
