Home to the legendary Louis Armstrong, the city of New Orleans is well known for both its musical and cultural diversity. What better way to showcase the city's eclectic nature than at a Hard Rock Cafe? Come one, come all, whether you rock out to the strains of Kurt Cobain or bluesman Fats Domino is more your style, every musical taste will be satisfied here. Once an old Jax brewery storehouse, our converted building has a unique style and charm plus an amazing outdoor balcony overlooking the famous, free-for-all French Quarter. Inside this sultry cafe, indulge in one of our world-famous Hurricanes while exploring signature pieces of the most extensive collection of rock memorabilia in the world. Whatever your pleasure, there's a place for it here. Remember, anything goes in the City of N'awlins, and the Hard Rock Cafe New Orleans is no exception.

Editorial Review for Hard Rock Cafe – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Walls covered with decades of Top-40 memorabilia, rock songs blaring in the background and an all-American menu typify this music-themed restaurant. The kitchen churns out group-friendly appetizers like nachos and Southern staples like barbecue ribs and chicken. Burgers are served with hefty sides of fries and the signature pulled-pork sandwich is topped with vinegar barbecue sauce. The gift shop sells branded items like T-shirts, shot glasses and hats.

I ate at here with a group of 10 high school students and two other adults from Oregon. We did not have reservations (recommended) and it took nearly 30 minutes for them to seat us. The service was poor, as our waitress was also serving at least four other tables in addition our group. It took over an hour for our food to arrive after we ordered and she only came by once to see if we needed anything. Moreover, the restaurant was so loud with bad 80s music that we all came out with our ears ringing. Definitely not one of our better dining experiences in New Orleans.

Pros: Memorabilia, bragging rights

Cons: Slow service, no parking, VERY loud

The Hard Rock Cafe isn't bad - it's pretty much identical to every other Hard Rock Cafe in the world, though. The food is your average TGIFriday's/Chili's/Appleby's kind of fare only a bit more expensive. Yes, they have rock memorabilia on the wall. If that's the kind of thing that impresses you, then go on - go. But, baby, this is New Orleans. You could be going to a restaurant with a real musician instead of one with a musician's old guitar. The burgers are better at Port of Call and so are the drinks. And just around the corner on Rampart Street is Donna's - a genuine jazz/blues cradle with excellent barbecue. So if you're a tourist of the unimaginative, unadventurous variety who is more comfortable with the familiar or a frat boy wanting to throw a frat party, Hard Rock may be for you. But otherwise, c'mon - dip your finger into the real big easy.

Pros: Location

Cons: As pre-processed as Mac and Cheese
