This massive tract has everything from oak trees to an old casino..
Facts
City Park's 1,500 oak-filled acres make it the country's fifth-largest urban park. The Mid-City green giant is sprinkled with more than a dozen attractions, including the New Orleans Museum of Art, the New Orleans Botanical Gardens and Bayou Oaks Golf Course.
Features
The shady lanes harbor popular play areas, such as the Mother Goose-inspired Storyland and the Carousel Gardens. The many lagoons are perfect for boating and fishing. The old casino building features its own ice cream parlor, and mini-trains wind through the park daily. Pony rides and tennis courts are also available. Besides presenting its dazzling Celebration in the Oaks lights festival, the park did host track and field events at currently closed Tad Gormley Stadium and holds music festivals at Marconi Meadows.
