A colorful seafood restaurant for kids of all ages--especially the younger ones..
In Short
Admittedly kitschy, unavoidably noisy, this Red Lobster for rug rats is like an oversized seaside shanty awash in oceanic memorabilia--fishing nets, souvenir trinkets, plastic flotsam and jetsam. Staffed with a lively crew of G-rated table-dancing servers, the family-friendly chain anchors its menu in all things crab: Crab balls, crab cakes, crab dip, crab gumbo. Finicky children opt for corndogs or hamburgers; shellfish-phobic adults dine on rib eye steak or mesquite-grilled chicken.
Decent food, amazing location. Right on the edge of Lake Ponchatrain, Joe's is a chain, to be sure...but they have fresh (and I do mean fresh) fried crawfish here. Delivered in a little cone, you can just munch on those all night. Sunsets here are unbeatable.
Very Lively, Great For The Outgoing. The food here is average to above average. If you want a party atmosphere with very nice views of the lake, this is your place. Service was good.
Stinks on ice. The owners of this chain should be arrested for even thinking about locating this mess in N.O. This place should be out of business by now. I believe the headquarters for this place is in Dallas (what a seafood capital that place is). Horrible food. The alleged spontaneous dancing is just a too cute contrivance. If you like this, you'll also like Applebees, Red Lobster, Houstons (name your chain). I ate here with two out of towners. One hated it like I did; the other liked it, but he once lived in the New Orleans area for a couple of years, and he proudly admits to never going anywhere but Veterans Highway. So there you have it.
No Shack here. This place is GREAT ! We stayed in New Orleans for a week and ate out every night most of the places in the French Quater. Joe's was worth the cab fare from downtown. What a great veiw its at the west end of the lake this lake is huge. I had the garlic snow crab 1lb. for only $15.99 This was the cheapest meal I had on yhe trip but is was the best and they make good drinks the place is real laid back. Just eat , drink and watch the boats go by.
