I went in to TJ Quills tonight at 2:00 for a night cap. I ordered a beer and was half way through when the bartender announced last call. I was finishing that beer when the bald bouncer asked me, and no one else at the bar, to leave. I told him that I had yet to finish my beer that the bartender had no problem in selling me five minutes before. The next time this bouncer came around, I told him the same thing. He then proceeded to throw me off my bar stool and choke me against the wall. There were at least a dozen other people still finishing their drinks at the bar. They were "friends", and were able to finish their drinks. Apparently, the bouncer didn't like my shirt this evening. So, if you like to order a beer and be assaulted before finishing it, I highly suggest TJ Quills. If the owner is reading this, feel free to contact me at ferrellminn@gmail.com. This late-night jumper is a perennially hip and inexpensive place to end an evening..
The Scene
Head to TJ Quills in the early evening and you'll wonder what all the fuss is about. The place doesn't start rockin' until late, and the wee hours between midnight and dawn are when the bar gets rowdy. Nightly specials, including Wednesday's swiller night with 22-ounce drinks and Tuesday's 25-cent draft night cement the bar's reputation as a partier's paradise.
The Draw
TJ Quills' interior is best described as vomit-proof. The walls and ceiling are festooned with every manner of beer sign, and banners complete the look as an ode to Budweiser and other generic American beers. The back of the bar has two pool tables and a vintage foosball machine. The jukebox is loaded with hip-hop and alternative rock.

swillers!. tj's is the best bar in uptown new orleans, especially now that they require college id to keep the high schoolers out, and its all about swiller nite every wednesday
