The place to be seen. definitely a place where locals go to eat. Being born and raised in New Orleans I like Clancy's a lot. Its loud and if you dont get the main dining room its kinda depressing but the food is great. Soft Shell crab there is probably my favorite dish but I always look at wehat the special of the night -- And while there are many excellent rests in New orleans it is the place to be seen

Rude Doorman--Say What ?. CCEXXP1 can't be describing Nash as a rude, obnoxious and useless doorman. He's nothing but New Orleans man and one of the many reasons why we keep going back. Next to the FOOD of course.

Some advise to you CCEXXP, get the stick out and loosen up a bit and enjoy the food... You should have stuck around & get more than a sniff of the food. This is New Orleans and the food doesn't get any better than Calncy's.

Good food, good service. My husband and I went to Clancy's for our wedding anniversary and had a great time. The food was well cooked and flavorful. Great experience! Love the atmosphere! Will go back again soon.

very disappointed!. We tried to begin our week of Christmas festivities with a dinner out at Clancy's. To start, climbing to the second floor after making reservations well in advance was rather annoying. The stairs are awkward and are more of a safety hazard. Our first drink order was placed at the bar before we were seated, and I don’t think our waiter knew what a "second round" was. With an entire table drinking alcoholic beverages (no beer!) you would assume that they would like to serve us another round. Not at Clancy’s! My father's drink had been bone dry since before we placed the food order! After our entree’s arrived & we still had not received a second round, I left our table, balanced my way down the stairs, & placed a rather large drink order with the bartender. After deciding I couldn’t carry everyone’s drinks up the stairs, my family decided to take a field trip downstairs to meet me at the bar so they could get their drinks! So yeah, in short... don't expect refills!

The food...hmm.. more disappointment. The “famous” crab cakes were too spicy. (We were born and raised in New Orleans, and food is never "too spicy” for us.) As for the entrees, my brother-in-law ordered the "highly recommended" and "highly praised" veal. It looked like a kids meal! No lie! It was even served on a child sized plate. When they placed it in front of him, I laughed and exclaimed "you should have ordered two!" After completely his meal, he ate half of my sister's lamb chops. My boyfriend's filet was the same, the filet was the right size, but it was served on a child's plate! These two men enjoy a fine dining experience. So they weren’t looking for an over-sized plate with unnatural portions... but an adult meal would have sufficed. I have yet to eat my meal as I was downstairs ordering my families' drinks. By the time I returned, everyone had finished with their meals, and I requested my food to be ‘boxed up.’ At this point, we still had not seen our waiter since placing our order. Another gentleman came by to ask if we would like desert or coffee, which we declined. Then guess who decided to grace us with his presence and bring us the bill? Our waiter! YAY! (sarcasm....) I give this entire experience and ultra thumbs down. I have NO idea where their "great reviews" are coming from. This was just awful!

Get ready to be sick.. Food and service were great until the food borne illness arrived later that evening. The worst part about it was the owner couldn't care less. She called me a liar the next morning. So, if you are in for 10 hours of a mass exodus in the bathroom-go to Clancey's.

Great food, Great service nice people. When I first arrived by taxi I was rather shocked at the outside look of the restaurant. It was in a local neighborhood that you wouldn't think a restaurant should be located in. However, Clancy's was recommended from a concierge in a five star spa in San Diego the week before when I was staying there. So I went in and was pleasantly surprised. You can tell by the first name greeting of people, that there was a lot of local business. It was definitely off the beaten trail.

That night the fish of the day was trout. Not what I expected in New Orleans. The waiter said they check for fresh catch daily and if they have good trout they will serve it. IT WAS THE BEST TROUT I EVER HAD. Service was excellent. In my job I eat at a lot of fine restaurants. This one exceeded my expectations. I look forward to going again when I am back in New Orleans.

Great Experience. Best place in NOLA to have dinner with good friends. Oysters with brie not to be missed. Bar downstairs is small but lots of fun before or after dinner (or both)

BAD BAD SERVICE...not excusable. Unbelievable. The most rude, obnoxious and useless door host ever. This elderly, rude and unable man drove us away, we never stayed to enjoy what appeared to be delicious....I'll never know. he forgot the golden, or even silver, rule...DONT FIGHT WITH POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS. Don't waste your time, there are plenty of other places to go.

Service Needs Some Training. I dined here recently with out of town guests. We were seated upstairs, where the temperature was a maximum of 60 degrees. When we requested that the air be turned up, we were given the run around about why the temperature had to remain so low.

Our waiter was the most flippant, arrogant server I have ever encountered in all of my years dining in New Orleans. He was condescending and seemed more interested in serving the sorority girls in the next room than our party of six. He forgot drink orders and one of our dessert orders as well, and did not once check with our table after serving each course.

My appetizer was delicious (fried green tomatoes with lump crab and Crystal hollandaise), but I would describe the rest of my meal as mediocre at best. I was quite surprised that the out-of-towners did not rave about their meals, either. I've dined at Clancy's in the past, but this experience was enough to make me proclaims "Overrated and Overpriced!"
