The store is located on Maple Street, which is slightly off the beaten path but as a result, refreshingly tourist-free. On any given Saturday, the area teems with packs of well-groomed local girls and St. Charles Avenue mother-daughter shopping teams.

The Goods
Considering its smallish size, Gae-Tana's stock reflects tremendous variety, with an eye toward both Uptown moms and their trendy daughters. Glittery tanks and hip-huggers mingle on racks near more conservative offerings, like an abundance of forgiving linen frocks. Funky shoes by Steve Madden, Chinese Laundry and Rocket Dog and a tremendous selection of inexpensive accessories make the store a staple with the local university girls. Almost everything in stock is of the moment but affordable--even on a student budget.…
