As you enter the quaint cottage off River Road, you find that Ballin's smartly stocks formal wear for wedding parties alongside design books and fabric samples for alteration and custom tailoring. Further back in the shop, Ballin's offers a varied, high-end selection of stylish business wear and fun evening clothes, which appeal to the fashion-conscious executive types and well-maintained socialites that frequent the boutique.

The Goods
Formal designs carried by the store run the gamut from classic Southern styles like Watters & Watters, Dessy and Odessa to sharp, modern formals from designers including Kay Unger, Currie Bonner and Vera Wang. Business wear includes pantsuits from Shantung in ice-cream colors. The labels represented in the shoe department are a little younger and hipper, like Hype, Via Spiga and Anne Klein. Bags, stockings and inexpensive but classy costume jewelry are also available.
