top notch place. Me, Thomas Kennedy & my girlfriend Amy went up to Royal st. courtyard for a Sunday / Monday get away. We will be heading back quite often. We have found the perfect place in nola to take a break from our very busy lives in Lafayette. The spot is away from the loud areas of bourbon/ canal BUT still within a few blocks of the French market. The surrounding neighborhood is nice with many nice people around. Great local shops with down to earth non-intrusive staffs are also right around the corner. Phillip the owner was a perfect host & read us very well. He recommended the best place to eat that was NOT the normal tourist trap that we avoid. Honestly it was the best meals out I’ve had in years. The grounds are serine & calming. Very clean place, great breakfast in the morning & well light/safe at night. Nothing overdone & thank god there is a hot tub that functioned properly on the grounds. Last but not least the price is lower than most hotels in the area. I am so grateful for that. If you want a TRUE nola experience everything you need is within a 5-block radius of the royal street courtyard.
An eclectic bed and breakfast with innkeepers willing to accommodate all types of guests..
The Scene
Look for this bed and breakfast's brightly painted facade and row of flags out front. It's the only way you'll be able to distinguish the former 1850s home from its residential neighbors. Inside, a quirky 19th-century charm involves period furnishings mixed with more contemporary decorations and a good amount of frill.
The Details
The guest rooms are all airy and bright, if not exactly spacious. All have private baths, but guests on a budget can choose to save money by walking across the hallway to a separate (but still private) bathroom. Guests may sip their morning cafe au lait in the communal breakfast room or out in the jungle-like courtyard. Afterwards, they may be inspired to take a walk deeper into the funky Faubourg Marigny or in the opposite direction towards the nearby French Quarter. Rates rise significantly during festivals and holidays.
