best bar around. markey's bar is by far my favoritwe watering hole in the city. the bartenders are all willing and wanting to converse with customers. the drinks are cheap and made right. the crowd is always friendly. the food is great. it is a great bar to go alone, take friens etc. dont miss the opportunity to check out this amazing bar.

Great neighborhood joint. Markey's is as comfortable as your own living room. With bartenders who know how to pour, try their four star bloody mary's, and stay for a bite to eat. Excellent burgers, big and juicy, and although who would think that a bar would have great salads, the steak salad with a cilantro lime viniagrette shouldn't be missed.

great little bar. Not that there is a shortage of neighborhood bars in New Orleans, but this little Bywater bar is a nice place when you want to steer clear of the tourist traps on Bourbon street. Lots of big screen TV's hung on the walls. The people here live in the area and its a pretty layed back crowd. A real plus, the food is very good here, although its a short menu. I like the shrimp po-boy's, but ask them to toast the bread a little extra.

Do Without the Pretense?? Then youve found the right place.. Markeys is one of a dying breed of bars; down to earth, full of colorful characters, cheap, strong drinks and free pool. I can not even begin to count all the good times I had here during my 3 years living in the Bywater. I appreciate it (and miss it) alot more now that I live in lame-o Albuquerque....
