Ashton's Bed & Breakfast

Editorial Review for Ashton's Bed & Breakfast – by Michele Robert Poche

The Scene
Offering classic Southern hospitality, Ashton's Mechling Bed and Breakfast is a four-room Antebellum Greek Revival mansion located in the Esplanade Historic District. Originally built in 1860 just prior to the Civil War, the guest house boasts an arched, wrought-iron gateway leading up to the spacious front veranda. Upon entering the home, guests will delight in the beauty of the grand center hall with 15-foot ceilings and fine furnishings, and the exquisite parlor featuring a carved marble mantel and an elegant chandelier.

The Details
Individual guest rooms are furnished with antiques, private baths, sitting areas, cable television, ceiling fans, private phones with voice mail and computer dataports. Guests are invited to indulge themselves in a full gourmet breakfast of fresh fruit, baked goods, pastries and Southern/Creole specialties served on the patio, on the front veranda or in the grand dining room.

Patrick and Karma are wonderful! They are the most professional, friendly, well-informed, and helpful innkeepers we have ever encountered. They really made us feel at home at their inn and in their city. The house is gorgeous! Full of history with beautiful renovations. Its like stepping back in time to the antebellum south. The breakfasts are amazing. Exquisite and original dishes dripping with care and local flavor. It will make you want to turn your own kitchen into a New Orleans Kitchen!

Pros: Gorgeous, Scrumptious, Professional

Ive stayed in 2 other B&Bs in New Orleans and Ashtons B&B is by far my favorite as I have stayed there 3 times now and will again in the future. Most B&Bs in New Orleans do not serve a hot breakfast, yet Patrick and Karma create a gourmet breakfast every morning. Dont miss the breakfast; its one of the treats of staying here. Patrick and Karma are seriously knowledgeable of New Orleans and can steer you in the right direction in where ever you want to go. They can give you their opinion of many tours that are available. My wife and I were very happy with the restaurants and tours they recommended. They can guide you to the famous restaurants and to the not so famous, off the beaten track type of restaurants that the locals frequent. Ill be staying here again.
